Give Me a Silent ‘P’! (I Said Silent, People!)

All goals for the week were curb stomped pretty badly.  Last weekend was spent resting and catching up on errands instead of outlining like I’d hoped.  That and I just couldn’t get my head into the game.  Ended up tearing up a few times when I picked up my notebook too, which tells you that I’m not ready for things.  Now of that matters though because something bigger happened this week . . .

I caught pneumonia.

Plus side, is that I lost a few pounds because I had no appetite for days.  I also finished watching ‘Jessica Jones’ and started watching ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’.  The down side is that I was stuck in bed for most of the week.  Thankfully, my fever went away fast enough for me to avoid the hospital.  This weekend is still recovery, so I’m still napping and watching TV.  My energy gives out fairly quickly, which has me worried about Monday when I go back to work.  It’ll be the last full week of camp, so it’s going to be busy.  I hope I can keep up.

My only goal for the week is to recover fully.  I switched weekends with the ex-wife, so she has him while I heal and I get him next weekend.  I suggested that and she recommended taking him for the week to keep him safe.  Couldn’t really argue with that even though I miss him.  He swung back yesterday to get his stuff (with her, of course) and I realized pretty quickly that I wouldn’t have had the energy for him.  Pneumonia is brutal even after you get over it.  I might be weak for a week or two, which is frustrating.

Anyway, that was my week.  I’m pushing for recovery and getting through work in one piece.  Running out of Netflix shows too.  Might have to get Hulu in order to get my anime fix.  Hope everybody else had a better week.

(I did sell 15 books and got new reviews on Prodigy of Rainbow Tower and Allure of the Gypsies.  I really liked the one on the latter because that book seems to have a visceral effect on some readers.  It begins the messy Luke Callindor/Kira Grasdon/Sari triangle that is supposed to be tragic.  Not easy to get that right at the start, so I lose readers on that one.  Anyway, I’m happy to see some praise, especially neither book has gotten reviews in years.  Now, I’m going back to napping.)

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Sure hope you feel better this week. Relapse is possible if you go back too early. The problem with being around kids is catching what they have only worse. Take care.

  2. Sorry you’ve been so sick… Feel better soon. Great about the reviews though.

Charles, congrats on the reviews! That’s a good pick-me-up! Sorry you’ve been sick. Pneumonia saps energy for sure, and be careful around those camp kids. You don’t want a relapse or get any more “bad bugs.” Get better! 📚 Christine

  4. L. Marie says:

Oh my word!! 😨 So sorry! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
So glad about the reviews and sales.

  5. V.M.Sang says:

That’s terrible, Charles. I hope you’re soon back to normal and your energy levels increase. Do you really think you should go back to work tomorrow, though? You could set yourself back. Hugs.

    • The doctor note says I go back tomorrow. So, I have to try. Everyone knows what I had, so I don’t think I’ll be pushed too hard. Mostly, I’ll be working a carnival popcorn machine from what I’ve been told.

  6. Jennie says:

I hope you are feeling much better.

  7. Take care of yourself. Pneumonia is known to linger and it’s going to take some time. Feel better soon.

  8. Pneumonia can be pretty serious. I hope you’re over it soon.
