Tired of Making Titles. Might do gibberish from now on

By the time this goes live, I’ll be ushering my son out of the house for his birthday party.  I don’t think much else is going on today.  Tomorrow is a trip to prepare for another party in August and relax.  Probably going to be plenty of new toys around the house, which makes me hope we have the room.

I’ll get to the real meat of the post.  Next week is the Hype Week for The Merchant of Nevra Coil , which should be out in August.  Will it be out on August 1st?  I can’t say with any certainty.  For anyone new to my blog, things always seem to go askew when I have a debut and I’ve routinely shot myself in the foot with defined release dates.  This makes it hard to hype a book, but I’m hoping the Character Interviews of August can help.  All of them will link to Beginning of a Hero, but it’s a focus on Windemere that hasn’t really happened much here.  It might help by adding in the Tuesday Teasers and the upcoming new thing called ‘Questions 3’.  So fingers are crossed that things run smoothly or at least don’t become an epic disaster.

What else is there to say here?  I write, edit, outline, and fiddle with future ideas, which doesn’t make for an interesting update post.  People have heard my lamentations about sales, marketing confusion, and the other stuff.  Traffic is slow in nearly every arena.  I don’t know why, but I always have retweets and things on Twitter.  Maybe it’s because summer sees people leaving their computers and social media.  At least blogging since I still see a lot of pictures going up on Facebook.  Am I alone in feeling like I’m only on that site because otherwise I’d never know what my friends and family are up to?

What’s the plan for the week?

  1. Start editing Tribe of the Snow Tiger.
  2. Continue editing The Merchant of Nevra Coil and get marketing stuff ready.  I’ll post again about needing volunteers tomorrow.
  3. Bring cupcakes to son’s school for his birthday.
  4. Biking.  I mean it this time.
  5. Fiddle more with Sin, Phi Beta, Zodiac Gods, and alien bounty hunter.  These ideas are weighing on my mind and I’m not really sure what to do about some of the issues.
  6. Think more about the exile and what can be done in 5-6 days that won’t go to waste by the time I get back to writing in September.  You’ll see this goal as a theme for a while.
  7. Ponder the online negativity of my species.
  8. DO NOT lose the notes on stuff introduced in one book that I forgot to carry over into the other.  Spontaneous creations can be a problem at times.

So, what goals do you have this week?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Goals? I’m fiddling with suggestions on my short stories and mapping out some promotional stuff. Now that I have a cool new cork board app, I’m moving my outlines over to that. Oh, and peaches. I’m eating lots of peaches. My wife and I have some real world events planned for later in the week, and I’ll probably blog about them.

Editing also. Deep developmental editing. Lots of rethinking. Too much brain work, not enough exercise.

    Happy birthday to your son!
Love the title Tribe of the Snow Tiger.
I’m hardly on Facebook, except to Like comments.
As for goals, my goal was to be done with the revision of my novel. Ha. I’m not sure I’ll finish it.

    • Thanks. He’s enjoying his new presents while running out of steam. I feel the same way about Facebook some days. Show up to wander, hit like, and remind a few people I’m still breathing.

Hope you reach that goal. Though I’ve learned that projects like that end when they’re destined to end.

  4. My goals are to return for this writer’s conference and get down to some serious edits. I have a bunch of books needed to get into reader’s hands

Last week I went on an AC/DC buying binge and picked up Black Ice, Fly on the Wall, Highway to Hell, Let The Be Rock, and Rock or Bust. Suffice it to say your video couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time to grab my attention. 🙂

Good luck with hype week for The Merchant of Nevra Coil. I’m sure it will go well, as it has for your other books. I’m not sure about anything when it comes to marketing. Sometimes a good idea does really well but sometimes, and I’m thinking aloud here, it does poorly. I can’t say why or why not. I read somewhere that the greatest success stories happened because of timing. Some might say luck, but I tend to go with timing. The thing about it all is, no one can really time success unless its a summer blockbuster like Jurassic World!

Anyway, I wish you all the best with your new release.

Now get on that bike and pedal!

    • Wow. That’s an impressive binge. 🙂

It’s hard doing Hype for a book, especially when I’m still missing one or two parts. It puts me in a position where I have to either do the hype or wait for a last second push. Downside to everything there. Timing is definitely a big thing. Maybe being a little later in August (last month of the summer slump) will be a good thing. I just don’t want to push it too far since I want to have the following book out by Christmas. That’s a big time to release.

Never got to the bike and it might have to wait until Tuesday. Tomorrow is morning errand day and it’ll be too hot to bike by the time I get home.
