Quick post to get the final ball rolling on three points:
- I’m looking for volunteers to be part of a Cover Reveal on May 15th. This is for Ichabod Brooks & the City of Beasts, which will be going live on June 1st. I have 12 days to choose the cover from the final 3. That brings us to item 2:
- Please vote in the final poll. This is different than the last because all 3 covers are in their final stages. The previous one was more for feedback and to get a good idea of where people were heading. I have my favorite, but I’m curious to see what people say. I’ll be closing the poll around Tuesday and then send the cover reveal info to volunteers that night. CLICK ON THE LINK!

3. How’s the new blurb look?
In a time of heroes, a man will take any job to provide for his family.
Ichabod Brooks has earned a reputation for doing the jobs that most men and women fear to challenge. It is this reputation that has brought him to the charred remains of a small village. The ruins have become a source of strange monsters that terrorize the countryside and repeatedly elude the local guards and hunters. The few brave souls who have entered the creatures’ lair have yet to come out alive or dead.
Only a fool would take this job, but that generous upfront payment is too much for Ichabod to resist. After all, a man and his family have to eat.
(Thanks in advance.)

I voted. I’ll also play along with your reveal project. I’ll send you an email regarding the blurb.

Thanks. Should I be sitting down when I get the email?

No. It’s a great blurb. I just don’t see a public format as the place for tweaks.

Got it. Just responded to the email. Thanks.

Think I already wrote to you to sign me up for the reveal.
Voting for cover number one (the male figure looks as close to as I have imagined it and well, I see a pretty redhead!!!!), cover number two looks neat as well, but the male’s face looks kinda weird to me, while I really disliked the blending and light in cover 3, I really disslike that one.
I am partial on the blurb, it sounds a tad bit repetitive and I think it is dragging the story hook down.

Yeah. I have you on the volunteer list. Thanks.
I did a rewrite of the blurb and hopefully I got rid of some of the repetition. We’ll see what happens. The cover reveal will be early enough for me to fine tune a few things. Not sure which is 1, 2, & 3 since the votes change their seats.

I meant the order when you just open the voting page 🙂

I see the rankings so I think I have a different look. I know the third one you’re talking about. The other two are tied now.

The characters are on the left and the male has a very awesome pony tail – thats my winner!

Got it. I think that one keeps slipping to second or tied for first.

I think I said before, but I’d be happy to do a cover reveal 🙂 The updated covers look fantastic – it’s so exciting. The blurb is as enticing as ever!

Voted! Count me in, as always, for the reveal.
And I like the blurb much better! The one thing I’d remove is that word, “upfront” in the last sentence. I feel like it weighs down the blurb, without really adding much information.

Need to think of another word then. It’s not the full job payment, but something before doing the assignment. ‘Down payment’ made it sound like Ichabod was a house. Maybe ‘advanced payment’?

Again, it might be just me, but I think a simple “payment” would suffice. is it crucial we know that the payment was made up front?

I guess my reasoning is ‘why would someone take a dangerous job for a generous payment that they haven’t gotten yet?’ At least to me, ‘payment’ alone can be translated as Ichabod being a little unwise since my first thought be money after the job is done.
