Toss This One in the First Draft Pile!

Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist

After a 3-day weekend of struggling to get to Book 9, I finally tackled it.  The character is dead, the heroes have been given their wrap up scene, and I only have to do the one for the villains to set everything up for Book 10.  That’ll take an hour or two, which will happen after the kid goes to sleep.  So I’m calling this one done.

This means I get to relax tomorrow.  Get a haircut, have some pizza, enjoy this anime I bought called D-Grayman, and think about the project I’m starting on Thursday.  This isn’t a book, but something writer-based.  Got some help since it’s something new and it might take the rest of the week to figure out.  I won’t be tackling Book 10 until February because things get hectic here leading up to the Super Bowl.  Also want to relax for a bit and sort through some outlines.

Honestly, I’m golden for my yearly goals if I get Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue published and Book 10-11 written before school is out.  Summer will be bogged down with family events and trips, so I’ll only be able to do editing during that period.  What little time I have will be geared toward prepping Merchant of Nevra Coil for publishing in the summer.  Unless something goes horribly wrong.

I  know this is a risky question given, but the special project might include an excerpt from each book.  I’m trying to decide on which one to do.  It’s hard to pick a scene that will entice and reveal the book without showing spoilers.  So I’m always open to suggestions if people have a favorite scene.  If anything, it might trigger my desire for something else, so you never know what will happen.

Anyway, I’m off to cook dinner and get my mind ready for a low key day tomorrow.  I might even drag it into Thursday and sleep in.  Not like the special project has a deadline.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  3. Congratulations, Charles. I struggle with excerpts more and more. I know people like excerpts, and they can entice further interest. My new story is full of spoilers, and it’s going to be hard to find samples that will serve the purpose and not ruin the story.
