You Know It’s Really Hard to Make Goal-Based Puns for So Long!

I’m curious how many people actually watch these videos I put on these posts.  They’re just something I like listening too, so they don’t always have anything to do with what I’m writing about.  I don’t know much about music, so it isn’t easy picking something that I haven’t used already.

Business side of things sees the books chugging along.  They’re not breaking any records, but they’re still going.  I’m hoping I can do more promo stuff next month, but schedule is really tight.  I’m doing the editing when I can, but I’m perpetually exhausted.  I’ve been watching a ton of Zero Punctuation videos on YouTube whenever I feel I need a laugh.  I can see that ‘business’ isn’t really a focus on this paragraph.  I’ll close up by saying the Thunderclap campaign is . . . whatever.  I might make a midweek and last day post about it, but I’m so frustrated and burnt out on the whole thing.  I tried and I learned a few things that I’ll write about in a special post next Sunday after the campaign is completed.

Speaking of next weekend . . . I’ll either be a ghost or an irritable beast next Saturday.  It isn’t anything people have done.  It’s Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of fasting.  That means the sun goes down on Friday and I can’t eat until the sun goes down on Saturday.  I will be trying to sleep and play video games for as long as I can to stave off hunger.  It doesn’t help that I’ve been minimizing my snacking the last few months, which has put me in a state of perpetual hunger.  My body thinks I’m starving it, but I’m simply not being a glutton and it’s rough.  I’ll be responding to blog comments and doing some stuff in the morning and night, but I’ll be in my corner during the worst of things.

In writing news, I’m chugging along with the minor edits and cursing that I’m stuck with my outlining projects.  Mostly because my mind won’t let the intergalactic bounty hunter alone.  I still can’t get this character into Windemere without feeling like I’m causing trouble, but the original story is science fiction and I don’t have the scientific knowledge or skill to do that.  I tried in test scenes, but I always treat things like magic.  There will be some ‘tech’ that appears throughout other series such as a magic-powered battle suit and giant robot and I’m working on figuring out how to let Clyde keep his blood-powered chainsaw.  These things work with gnome tech and within the rules that their series create for Windemere.  Yet the bounty hunter is a stranger to the world and functions outside of all the rules.  She’ll have a problem with limited ammo for her gauntlets and not being sure what’s a monster and what’s not.  That’s as far as I get.  I’ve toyed with the idea of her using the last of her power cells to send the criminals she’s capturing back to their jail, but it strands her.  That means she’s working without tech in the second book.  I’m ranting at this point and that’s not a good thing.  I just can’t be sure if I’m doing the right thing, but I refuse to abandon this character.

Goals of the week!

  1. Continue editing books.
  2. Prepare for day of hunger.
  3. Attend first Parent/teacher conference.  This will be interesting.
  4. Toy with Bounty Hunter idea when feeling masochistic.  Maybe put her into the ‘Mylrixians/Project Phoenix’ where the tech and superhumans appear after they’re awakened.
  5. Sleep, eat, and help son do homework.  Also stationary bike.
  6. Keep an eye on Thunderclap campaign and compose thoughts for final verdict post.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I don’t know if I could see the intergalactic bounty hunter in fantasy, but i don’t know much about how fantasy and sci-fi cross over. Good luck with the fasting. Sometimes I fast…not on purpose…I just forget to eat.

    • That’s the issue. People who are into the magic won’t accept this character. Even if I do a crash landing to introduce her, there are purists and other problems to contend with. Yet I can’t keep her current series. So I have to fit her in somehow.

  2. I remember the first parent/teacher conference. I was totally a wreck before but better after. The joys of parenthood.

  3. I honestly don’t usually listen to the music, but that’s usually because I have other music already running and I’m too lazy to shut it off, lol. As for the bounty hunter … hmm, very interesting! I could see that working in a fantasy setting, so long as you don’t go too crazy with the magic mecha suit and whatnot 😀

I’m also really intrigued by this Thunderclap campaign thing. I signed up and everything, but I’m not entirely sure how it works. So it just helps people to automatically send out promotional tweets on a set day? Please let us know how that goes, because I’m really fascinated!

    • Play both at the same time and see if they sync up. What could possibly go wrong? 😀

Funny thing about the magic mecha suit is that it comes from another character. I’m thinking of making that one a Golem Master, so the suit is actually a special type of golem. She’ll have a giant one too in place of her original giant mecha. I’m thinking the bounty hunter and her enemies will have some ‘out there’ tech, but being on a different world means ammo can run out. I’m thinking of having the series focus more on the 10 criminals that she crashes with than the other stories that I had. This might turn into a novella series in that case or each book has 2 adventures.

The campaign maker sets up a Tweet, Facebook post, and Tumblr post that will go out as soon as the campaign is over and successful. So it’s just an automatic promo tweet and the people who volunteered don’t have to do anything. Right now, I don’t think I’m going to make it. It’s at 74 and nothing is moving. I’m also tired of beating the dead horse. A midweek post and last day post are all I have in me.

  4. I’d watch more of these videos, by my pc has some issue with watching videos. Geeksquad fixed it, but then it reverted again. Alas, to watch a video I must go onto a different computer…
