Questions about Windemere

So, I’m trying to set up some things for August posts and I came up with the idea of opening the floor to questions about Windemere.  Not my style, but the overall world since I can’t always explain things without going into info dump territory.

The questions I have so far are:

  1. What and how much do dragons eat since they’re so big?
  2. Explain the Kingdom of Serab and the importance of the royal family.
  3. How can people die of diseases if there is magical healing?

That’s all I have and I’d like to get to 6 questions for a full week, but I’m more than happy to go longer.  These might be the second week of August since I’m using the first week for ‘Ask-A-Character’ posts (audience gets to interview the chosen character).  That first week will be chaotic with a book release that hopefully runs smoothly.  In the throes of editing too, which means limited time to prep posts in advance.

So feel free to ask a question.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I shall have a ponder over questions to ask! Also, to question three I would reply: maybe not everyone can be healed by magic because it’s too expensive??? I would imagine something like magic would come at a cost? 🙂

  2. How did castor swamp come into being? Was it magic or just there?

    • I was toying with the idea of talking about the Caster Swamp, but wasn’t sure if people were interested. I need to find my old notes on it. 🙂

      • I have been curious. So much seems to come out of there.

      • It’s a real hotbed of activity. A big reason is it’s where the first villain of the series comes from, so there are worse areas like Shayd and the Chaos Void. Still, I agree that there is something mysterious and strange about the Caster Swamp. That’s why I was happy to investigate it more in the 5th book. 😀

    How do auras influence magic?
How are Windemere vampires different from other vampires?

I was thinking about readers who are new to the series who might wonder how the auras are connected to the magic. I thought about the question when I was flipping through Family of the Tri-Rune, wondering what a newbie would ask. (I like to visit Timoran whenever I can. :-))

  5. I’ve dealt with #3, actually. In Seven Exalted Orders, one of my healer magi had arthritis and walked with a cane. She explained that, although her power could heal damage done by arthritis, it couldn’t change the fact that she was getting older. The same applies to things like measles or cholera; a healer could cure damage done by these diseases but would not be able to kill the virus/bacteria that cause them.

Is there a city or nation that is made up entirely of halflings in Windemere?
