Yes, I know these character interviews have been about as successful as an All You Can Eat Bacon Bar in a Jewish Temple. Still, Timoran deserves a chance to get a few questions even if you haven’t read the book.
Timoran Wrath is a barbarian warrior from the Snow Tiger Tribe in the northern mountains. He is helping the city of Hero’s Gate with the problems that have cropped up since Nyx’s visit in Prodigy of Rainbow Tower. In Family of the Tri-Rune, he is ordered to act as Nyx’s bodyguard. This is interesting because he’s nervous around magic even though he has great respect for our favorite half-elven firebug. Unlike traditional barbarians, Timoran is very wise and doesn’t anger easily. Better to say that he keeps his rage pent up to unleash in battle, which makes him very dangerous. Bullies tend to mistake his interest in avoiding pointless conflict as weakness and find themselves on the wrong end of a beating.
So, if there’s anything you want to know about Timoran or barbarians of Windemere then ask away.

What characteristics make you the perfect bodyguard for Nyx? How do they contrast with Nyx’s characteristics?

Being a barbarian, I am strong and highly skilled in combat. My senses are keener than average humans, which has given me an edge against ambushes. More importantly, I am intimidating enough that most threats will not attempt an attack. I admit that Nyx is intimidating with her magic, but she is not as battle-hardened. She is also feared and hated in Hero’s Gate while I am respected. Again, I see my reputation and presence as more of a deterrent than my axe. At least with those that have rational thought like the angry citizens and goblins. The Krypters will require more of a . . . hands on approach if we face them.

As you know, I stink at coming up with character questions! However, your first line of this post was quite humorous 🙂 Oh, I do have one question. (This is not meant to disrespectful. I’m just curious.) Most people associate the term “barbarian” with primitive cultures. You seem more gentle and well spoken than your typical barbarian. Why are you and your people called barbarian warriors? And what do you think influenced you to be different?

I am actually not that different from the rest of my tribe. We are called barbarians because we live in harsh environments and have what many would call a primitive culture. This does not mean we lack manners, art, and philosophy. We simply have a primal rage and a very warrior-centered culture, which evolved from our more savage beginnings. For a brief history, one day a noble barbarian realized that it is better to control and manipulate our natural rage instead of letting it rule our life. This is where most of our modern day traditions come from.

Since I haven’t yet read the book I would like to know the real NYX. Have you witnessed a side that none of us know? Does she respect your help in keeping her safe?

I do not know what you mean by the real Nyx since she is rather complicated. I have seen her strong, defiant, and weak. As for respect, I believe she appreciates my help even if she is always finding ways to still get what she wants.
