Is it natural to be alone?
Away from all
Where silence has a tone
Like an insistent phone call
Are you happy?
Do we always need someone?
A hand to hold and voice to hear
Telling us we are not done
Keeping us so near
Are you happy?
What if one deserves loneliness?
A wretch upon the planet
Pain caused by happiness
A shadow on the granite
Are you worthy?
Can one come out of sorrow?
Wiping tears away like dust
Believing there is a tomorrow
A soul regaining trust
Are you strong enough?

I think it’s different for everyone. This hits pretty close to home though…

It’s odd too. A person surrounded by people can still feel isolated.

Poo! I don’t need anyone. I am perfectly fine here on my own. Hold me? I’m lonely.

Ow, indeed. Think I took an elbow to the ribs. At least I think it was an elbow. It was pointy.

I have reread the last lines over and over, Happy, happy, worthy, strong enough…it has take me a long time to realize, but yes. Yes I am!

Good to hear. I’m starting to notice how many people go through these questions.

This is a great poem highlighting what many of us go through. As you said in the comments section, it is amazing that one surrounded by so many people can still feel alone.

Exactly. Physical presence can only go so far. There’s that need for understanding.
