To Hear that Song in My Heart

I played a lot of videogames in my youth and many of them were platformers and rpgs.  That’s not really important.  One thing that always struck me was the music in a lot of these games.  The video above is from Illusion of Gaia, which was one of my favorites and it still brings a tear to my eye when I hear it.  I think I remember all the fun and the adventure and just everything about this game.

Here’s another song that I always pause to hear all the way through when it comes on:

I’ll freely admit that I’m kind of dancing to this music and fighting the urge pretend to wield a magical whip against evil creatures.  Anyway, I guess my nostalgia amped up since I put Castlevania: Symphony of the Night into my Pandora station.  I’ve heard that, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Trigger, and so many others.  It’s amazing how these songs pull me back in time.

So, anybody have odd theme songs from shows and games that pull the back in time?  Maybe I’ll do a montage post later in the week for everyone.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
