This should counter the dark one.ย In response to We Drink Because We’re Poets poetry prompt: Day in the Life of a Nerd.

There was a young nerd with some dice
Who bought the whole set for a low price
Each die was unique
He’s mastered his technique
A fresh role-playing game would be nice
About Charles Yallowitz
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
Ooh, I never saw the oddly-shaped or colored ones before. Nice!

Thanks. I never learned about the other die types until I got into Dungeons & Dragons.

Brings back memories of hour long bus rides in Los Angeles freeway traffic to and from school. For me, reality was always far better; I never fared well in role playing. (From a geometry perspective, I love those dice. ๐ )

I was the opposite. Reality and I didn’t get along too often back in the old days. ๐

Nice limerick! I’ve stepped on my fair share of those oddly shaped die as I make the journey through the child’s room!

The four-siders are devastating. We compared them to caltrops, pointy triangles that are thrown on the ground for enemies to step on. Ninja weapon I believe.

I hate caltrops – and yes, I’d have to agree with the comparison! (I occasionally play role-playing games on the computer)

Cool. Caltrops seem to be obscure enough that most people don’t know what I’m talking about.

That touched my heart in ways that most poetry cannot achieve. ๐ My husband, step-daughter, and I are working on inventing a new RPG (a sci-fi/fantasy crossover deal)…perhaps that will be the fresh game you need…if you’re willing to wait a while, that is. ๐

Thanks. I’ve been retired from gaming for a while, but I’m always hoping I’ll return. No gamers in my area and life doesn’t leave me much time.

I feel your pain. We pretty much game with the people that live in this house or don’t game at all. That’s what leads to inventing new games for no good reason, I think. ๐
