Ever have a night where things don’t go well? It’s 11:30 PM and this night should have seen me get a little work done. Instead:
- I brushed my teeth and then grabbed a soda on the way to the computer. Genius!
- Pandora has opted to die on me.
- Soda has been watered down by the melted ice. Mmmmmmm Cherry Vanilla Coke Water.
Guess I’ll watch a few Zero Punctuation videos on Youtube and pass out at midnight. Long day ahead of me tomorrow.
And I epically bombed my goals for this week due to the melancholy. Got half a chapter done instead of 2, missed my biking for every day but today, and no work on the outline. Doesn’t matter how you look at that one. This has been a horribly off week, but I guess I need one of those from time to time.

Ugh I feel you, I didn’t do half of what I set out to do and tonight…writer’s block, trying to write through it..but totally not working! Sitting here writing poetry and looking for inspiration…did I mention the poetry hasn’t turned out very well, lol! Hope you get to relax and enjoy the weekend so you can get things accomplished next week! 🙂

I’m hoping next week is smoother, but my son has his week off between school year and summer session. So, I’ll be superdaddy for a lot of it. Maybe I’ll get a chapter done.
LikeLike
Oh that sounds exciting, I hope ya’ll have a great week 🙂
LikeLike
Hope so. Don’t really have anything planned. Unless we decide to go to the zoo, which might be a good idea now that I think about it.
LikeLike
The zoo could be fun! I have never been to one, but have full intentions on it one day. And you never know it might give you the needed break to fuel a really inspired week 🙂
LikeLike
I’ll probably be trying for a chapter section at night when he goes to bed. Though, a day at the zoo with the little guy might not be relaxing. Chasing a 3-year-old through his first time at a real zoo in summer heat. Not going to be pretty.
LikeLike
LOL no that doesn’t sound fun at all. How about a kiddie pool a sprinkler and a cook out….much cooler 🙂
LikeLike
That will be in there at some point. I’m sure of it.
LikeLike
I like the sound of that, my pool is in the process of filling up as we speak…if I disappear a few days….You know where I am! Margarita + Pool = missing Irish!
LikeLike
We don’t have a pool. We have a sprinkler and a public pool. My son doesn’t look big bodies of water with a lot of people, so we’ll have to find a kiddie pool for the backyard.
LikeLike
Being super daddy is more fun if you’re in the pool too, instead of siting in a chair with your laptop! 😀 Are you tired yet of me gently nudging you to take a week off? 😀
LikeLike
What pool? Also, gently?
That week off wouldn’t work out for me. In August, my son is home full-time, so I’ll barely be around. That’s why I have to finish the book before then. In August, I’ll be a rarity. Morning and evening. Maybe a few midday appearances while he eats lunch.
LikeLike
Okay – I’ll quit then – – but rest assured, if you pop up numerous time in a 24 hour period in August, I’ll be saying,
“HEY! Aren’t you supposed to be on daddy vacation!”
LOL
😀
LikeLike
I’ll still be popping up with posts. May be scheduled, but I won’t be commenting as much.
Keep in mind that I’m supposed to debut my next book in early July, so August is still a big part of the advertising period.

Your life wears me out…. LOL
Hope next week goes smoother for you!

It should. I’m thinking of changing to a 1 chapter a week goal, which will make me finish the week before my son is done with summer session.

a friend just wrote an article; her main premise is that dogs and other animals are smarter than us. We work like energizer bunnies and then beat ourselves up when our batteries run down. It is like beating an almost dead horse to keep running. Animals? Why they play or “work” with gusto and the sleep for long periods sans guilt.

Got it. Need my family to start treating me like a pet to help me get work done. 😀

Maybe it’s a result of over-planning. Remember the sales motto: under-promise and over-deliver! If you shorten your list, you might be inspired to go beyond it…

I actually dropped my goals to an under-planning level. This week was just bad in terms of mood and distractions. I think the driving a lot last weekend knocked me on my butt too.

Ah, yes…you were off partying a bit 😉

Yup. Not that much due to the 5-6 hour drive up and the 7-8 hour drive back. Got so horribly lost.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, Charles. Isn’t New York like New Orleans in the summer? Rainy, humid/muggy (not as bad as NOLA) and HOT? I’d steer clear of a zoo in hot weather with a toddler 😛 I would run thru a sprinkler, though. Remember those slip and slide things you’d hook up to the hose? Probably dangerous as hell but some fun!

It’s hard to explain because the last few summers have been brutal. The Bronx Zoo in the summer is the best though. They have a lot of indoor places set up, so you can rest during hot weather times and still see the animals. A lot more of them since I was a kid.
