Well . . . That Went Terribly

Ever have a night where things don’t go well?  It’s 11:30 PM and this night should have seen me get a little work done.  Instead:

  1. I brushed my teeth and then grabbed a soda on the way to the computer.  Genius!
  2. Pandora has opted to die on me.
  3. Soda has been watered down by the melted ice.  Mmmmmmm Cherry Vanilla Coke Water.

Guess I’ll watch a few Zero Punctuation videos on Youtube and pass out at midnight.  Long day ahead of me tomorrow.

And I epically bombed my goals for this week due to the melancholy.  Got half a chapter done instead of 2, missed my biking for every day but today, and no work on the outline.  Doesn’t matter how you look at that one.  This has been a horribly off week, but I guess I need one of those from time to time.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Ugh I feel you, I didn’t do half of what I set out to do and tonight…writer’s block, trying to write through it..but totally not working! Sitting here writing poetry and looking for inspiration…did I mention the poetry hasn’t turned out very well, lol! Hope you get to relax and enjoy the weekend so you can get things accomplished next week! 🙂

Being super daddy is more fun if you’re in the pool too, instead of siting in a chair with your laptop! 😀 Are you tired yet of me gently nudging you to take a week off? 😀

a friend just wrote an article; her main premise is that dogs and other animals are smarter than us. We work like energizer bunnies and then beat ourselves up when our batteries run down. It is like beating an almost dead horse to keep running. Animals? Why they play or “work” with gusto and the sleep for long periods sans guilt.

Maybe it’s a result of over-planning. Remember the sales motto: under-promise and over-deliver! If you shorten your list, you might be inspired to go beyond it…

I am an achievement-oriented, list-making person. I’m tired of not meeting them so I’m adopting the no-goal approach. We’ll see how long that lasts and/or how effective it is.

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, Charles. Isn’t New York like New Orleans in the summer? Rainy, humid/muggy (not as bad as NOLA) and HOT? I’d steer clear of a zoo in hot weather with a toddler 😛 I would run thru a sprinkler, though. Remember those slip and slide things you’d hook up to the hose? Probably dangerous as hell but some fun!

    • It’s hard to explain because the last few summers have been brutal. The Bronx Zoo in the summer is the best though. They have a lot of indoor places set up, so you can rest during hot weather times and still see the animals. A lot more of them since I was a kid.

Been there done that! The only people who can help you now live in that wold you’re now avoiding. So GET BACK TO WORK! LOL. And go kiss your son and your wife and remember how awesome and blessed your life really is.

  10. don’t beat yourself up. this week has been HORRIBLE for everyone, I feel. Mine has been the most unproductive, terrible week I can remember in a long time. I’m just gearing up to make next week hopefully more productive and better all around. For me, it’s all to do with my mindset and the amount of time I waste doing stupid stuff

I completely understand. These past two months have been like that for me. Here’s hoping the rest of the summer goes well!

Charles. If you were not my best friend in the entire world I would tell you that you are a giant whiner who needs a good spanking and to be sent to his room. No, not the basement. You can work from there. We need to so do that vampire post already. Slackers.
