Heading Out to Arcon

I’m going to post this tonight because I will only have enough time to do an e-mail check and a brief reader run tomorrow morning.  Heading out at 9am to get to upstate New York by 3pm.  For those wondering about the convention, here is the history of it:

Back in college, I was the member of a club called the Storyteller’s Guild.  It was a group that focused on playing various table-top role-playing games.  Dungeons & Dragons, Vampire, and several others that people outside of the hobby wouldn’t recognize.  It branched out into anime and other interests while I was a member.  I guess the club was heading toward the inevitable.

Near the end of my time in Oswego, New York, the club put together a convention for gamers.  That convention was Arcon.  It had a 24-hour anime screening room, a Live Action Role-Playing game, many table-top games, and a vendor room.  I ran several games with only a few actually happening.  It was here that my roommate, another friend, and I designed the Mutant Wrestling Federation.  We went all out with character backgrounds, titles, and theme songs.  We designed the actual events depending on the characters picked by the players.  It was fun and I hope to see those guys again.  I’m not sure what it has grown into since I left.

So, this weekend will see my return to the old college stomping grounds.  This is where Windemere was born, I met my wife-to-be, made many friends that are closer than family, got a degree, and had many adventures.  Overall, this is going to be an interesting and fun weekend.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

    • Thanks. Just found out that they’ll have wi-fi and Jason (cover artist) is going to send me occasional update pictures, so it’s going to be a blast. Even better, I can handle my e-mail/blog comments and check how the free eBook sale is going.

Have a wonderful trip Charles…and as the Italians say “in bocca al lupo” which means the same thing as “break a leg” in a good sense of course!
