The Faerie Guardian by Rachel Morgan

Here is my review of The Faerie Guardian by Rachel Morgan.

I can’t wait for the second book of this series

Seen through eyes of Violet, this book was extremely entertaining and I could barely put it down.  I really enjoyed that there was also a wry sense of humor to Violet’s thoughts.  It was her observations and thoughts that kept me reading because I really connected with her.  She’s a very strong character with a sense of vulnerability that combine perfectly.  Even though it’s from Violet’s point of view, you still get a good feel for the other characters.  Ryn is a jerk, Nate is charming, Tora is protective, etc.  There isn’t a character that you don’t get a feel for due to Violet’s thoughts, which act as a great narration.

Possibly my favorite parts of the books are when Nate mentions things from the human world.  Instead of it being a constant ‘I have no idea’ from Violet, she does show that she knows about humans or has an idea.  It made the role of the Guardians more believable since they operated in the human world so often.  Also, I’m pretty sure there was an allusion to Pink & The Brain.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun and exciting fantasy book.  It’s definitely a YA book, but I still believe adults would get a lot of fun out of reading it.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Thank you!
And YES, there was an allusion to Pinky and the Brain! I don’t know how many other people “got” that 😉

    • You’re welcome. I’m guessing any kid of the 80’s and 90’s should know that one. It definitely had me chuckling. I’d have laughed, but it was late at night and I didn’t want to wake anyone.
