This is the scrapbooked display that my wife put together for the vendor table I’ll be having at Arcon in Oswego, NY. This convention is a small one run out of my old college and occurs the last weekend of April. There will be another display that has either the final cover for Prodigy of Rainbow Tower or the initial sketches of Nyx.
I’m thinking of having fliers that promote the books as well with the Amazon sites listed on there. At the very least a teaser flier for the second book if it isn’t out by then. So, what do people think?

NICE!!!

Y’know what’s a big thing in the UK right now for self-pub’d authors? You make bookmarks with photo-quality paper, print them off, and hand them out. So it’s like a flier, but way cooler! You can add info like your website address, Twitter name, etc, maybe even a few diff quotes from your novel.
The table looks AMAZING! Great job, Charles’ wife! 😀

Thanks. I should look into the bookmark, but I was told that I needed to laminate them. A bookmark could work better than a flier.

Do you have an example? I’m just wondering if there’s a photo background or a slice of the book cover under all the contact info. Great idea and thanks for the compliments!

Erm, I was searching but can’t find the advert I saw earlier. I contacted an old acquaintance of mine – her brother is some design whiz and made them for her when she went to a writer’s conference in London last year.
Anyhow, essentially, you’d have the book and any info you wanted on there, sort of like this: http://novel-moments.blogspot.com/2012/05/self-designed-bookmarks-for-promotion.html
Hope that helps explain what I mean! And Charles, you don’t NEED to laminate them, as long as they’re thick 🙂

Great. It looks like I would have to go for the first book with that instead of the second because I don’t know if I’ll have anything for the second by that point. If I can get the cover art for the second book then I can probably do two types of bookmarks.

I went to put thanks at the end of that last one, but I hit the sliver of the reply key by accident. Small screen is giving me issues tonight. Sorry about that.

That looks really good, I used bookmarks for promotion and the did really well. People will lose a flyer or toss it if they feel they can’t carry it conveniently. Bookmarks are small and will fit in a pocket or purse. I had my book cover on one side and promo info on the other. That was also how I picked up an agent, who ran across a bookmark of mine and liked the looks.

Guess I should have read the comments first lol

We’re probably going to do some price checking on thick paper stock this weekend. We also need to figure out if we’re going to be able to do a bookmark for the sequel or just Beginning of a Hero. Are there bookmark templates to help with printing?

There are quite a few print at home sites that have templates. I used printshop pro to make mine, because you can adjust them to any size and width you wish.
