And that’s all she wrote, folks . . . wait, that’s just the beginning of what she wrote.
Legends of Windemere: Beginning of a Hero is now for sale on Amazon Kindle. I’ve attached a direct link to the site and there is also a link on the store page. The paperback will take a few more days, but Kindle was the big one.
Remember to read, review, enter the contests, reblog, share, spread the word, and most importantly enjoy my first novel. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and will continue to support me.
Now, I’m going to lay down.
I’m so excited for you that I wish I could keep “starring” your post lol

I used Amazon.com, Createspace (paperback), and Smashwords.com to cover the non-Kindle reader.

This is the first time I’ve completely reblogged a post from someone else’s site–but this is his book, and his exciting news to tell!

That is fantastic news. A lie down may help you to processs what you have just achieved. You are an inspiration to many would-be authors in bloggersville, myself included. Congrats!

Thanks. I think I still need that lie down though. Good luck with your publishing and let me know when your book is out.

Did you enjoy your experience with publishing through Kindle? In the process of releasing my first book through them and still trying to figure out if I like the KDP idea. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I’ve enjoyed most of the experience. Amazon can be the big, evil corporation at times when they want to please customers. They are the biggest game in town, so it would be ridiculous not to work with them.
That being said, I started out with my book on Amazon and Smashwords to see if I could hit all of the markets. I did horrible outside of Amazon, so I dropped Smashwords to go with KDP Select. You don’t have to join the program when you publish on Amazon, but it can help. There are really two ways to go:
1) Start with KDP Select and hit Smashwords after the 90 day period. You might be able to gain some interest on the other mediums in a ‘forbidden fruit’ type of thing.
2) Start with all the mediums and use heavy marketing to get an immediate boost. If you don’t sell enough to make Smashwords worthwhile then jump to KDP Select.
What genre is your book?

Thank you for your insight on this. I wanted to basically stay in the Kindle family, I have been reading, reviewing, living ect on Amazon for years so my first choice has always been them.
After the release I was going to make sure I talked about the web reader for Kindle to appeal to those that may not have Kindles, so that is my avenue for that for now.
I was thinking of using KDP from the get go for my first series and seeing what happens and then changing for my almost completed fuller length book if I see the need to. My book is a set of short novellas, military fiction!

Good idea writing about the web reader. I keep forgetting about that, but I suggest it when people say they lack a Kindle. Don’t forget to use Createspace for a paperback option. It won’t sell as well as the e-book, but the option makes you appear more professional and you’ll get a few sales.
I don’t know how the military fiction market works, but KDP Select from the beginning is the way to go if you’re going to be exclusive anyway. Don’t forget to utilize Goodreads too. That’s a very important tool.
Do you have a release date picked out?

Yes I am already set up on Createspace, mainly because the novellas were written based on my husband’s family’s military history so they are all dedicated to different members who of course will want physical copies, lol.
I just got started on Goodreads, so still getting set up there!
Release date: Looking at July 1st, because they are military based, I want them out around the 4th. Fixing spacing issues ect, and editing the cover for Createspace as well. Just finishing up those wonderful last minute touches so to speak.

Love those finishing touches. Would you want to do a guest blog on my blog for the debut? Talk about writing military fiction and your inspirations. I can add the cover art and a link to where people can buy your book. You can tell me when to post it.

Yes, finishing touches are enough to drive you insane at some moments!
I would love too, that would be great. I will give you all the info ahead of time and let you know when to post it. Thank you!

No problem. I didn’t remember those for the first week of being published. Tumblr took me a 2 months to remember.
