Character Hot Seat: Queen Trinity & Yola Biggs

Queen Trinity of the Chaos Elves won the overall poll and her best friend Yola Biggs the Chaos Goddess got a vote.  So I figured it would be fun to talk to the two villainesses of LEGENDS OF WINDEMERE.  They do make an interesting pair and Yola is slated to take a bigger role in the next book.

Now, Trinity is a powerful caster, Nyx’s rival, and she isn’t as bad as people think.  She protects her people by sharing in their punishments and taking blame for any mistakes that they make, which is why she’s loved by the chaos elves.  One would expect Baron Kernaghan to have killed her by now.  In reality, she’s kind of protected by Yola, who is an exile from the land of the gods and has felt alone centuries.  Then Trinity came around and things changed.  Though nobody is sure who is charge of the relationship.  At times, the ditzy goddess comes off as a child or a pet while Trinity occasionally takes on a more docile role.  It really depends on their moods and what they’re doing.  Yet there is a bizarre connection between the two that gets explored for a few books coming up.

So, dive in to ask any questions you can think of.

Natacha Guyot's avatarNatacha Guyot

La Cité de Sharianth, is now available! While I know that since it is in French, it will be a different market, especially since my online presence is at 95% in English. Book Launch! Demons & Pearls by P. S. Bartlett

Sue Vincent's avatarSue Vincent's Daily Echo

Demons_&_Pearls_Cover_for_KindleHad I known the repercussions of murdering the captain of a pirate ship, I may have taken the time necessary to rethink the act. As if I’ve ever had a choice that didn’t involve a fight or at the very least, defending myself against some man, hell bent on destroying me or my kin.
All we wanted was our freedom. All we found were demons disguised as men.
A woman pirate needs friends, big strong male friends, to survive in this unforgiving land of thieves and murderers—at least until she gets on her feet. Of course, trying to find one person you can trust is like finding an oyster with a perfect pearl in it—you have to break a few shells and get your hands dirty. We were lucky. I found the biggest, baddest and most honorable man in the Caribbean and he just happened to be in the pearl…

…fellow Crooked Cat Publishing Author, Scott Perkins, (Blog :  http://www.pagestotype.com/ ) has a milestone day today… his debut novel, Howard Carter Saves The World, is available to all of yeez to download and enjoy… he shares a bit about his plot hero, Howard Carter… a name to conjure with, indeed…

A Name to Conjure With

The naming of cats, TS Eliot tells us, is difficult and a game that’s sure to spoil your holiday. He might as well have been talking about the lip-gnawing, brow-furrowing, page-flipping, head-scratching frustrations of naming characters for a work of fiction.

Considering the amount of thought that goes into naming a cat or a character, it’s always surprising to me how arbitrarily we tend to name people in real life. My mom babysat for a kid named Scott and always liked the name, so here I am. I watch friends and family…

Drop Everything and Read

Nicholas C. Rossis's avatarNicholas C. Rossis

Oh D.E.A.R.!

From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's booksD.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Everything and Read“. This is a month-long celebration of reading designed to remind folks of all ages to make reading a priority activity in their lives. With declining literacy among children and adults, it is now more important than ever for reading to be encouraged and cherished as a worthy past time.

D.E.A.R. programs have been held nationwide on April 12th in honor of Beverly Cleary’s birthday, since she first wrote about D.E.A.R. in Ramona Quimby, Age 8. Inspired by letters from readers sharing their enthusiasm for the D.E.A.R. activities implemented in their schools, Mrs. Cleary decided to give the same experience to Ramona and her classmates. As D.E.A.R. has grown in popularity and scope, the program has expanded to span the entire month of April . . . offering classrooms and communities additional time to celebrate!

Can D.E.A.R. be celebrated anytime?

Every…
