Title says it all. I got curious about octopi and wondered what the weirdest species are, which was mostly off looks. Enjoy.

Argonaut

Blanket Octopus

Coconut Octopus (Use hollowed coconut husks to hide from predators while they walk.)

Dumbo Octopus

Flapjack Octopus

Mimic Octopus (Imitates Eels and Snakes)

Octopus Wolfi (Smallest at 0.6 inches)

Blue-Ringed Octopus (Carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans.)

Octopi are fascinating. I watched a video where an octopus punched/slapped (not sure wish) a fish passing by. And Mark Rober did a video on an obstacle course he made for an octopus to show her intelligence.

There are a lot of stories of them escaping their tanks and causing mischief in aquariums.

These animals are so amazing: smart and able to learn. And they can be friendly. I can’t eat them any more because of what I know about them. Too sentient.

I read that their DNA is so different from everything else on Earth that scientists think they could have come from space.

I didn’t know that! If they did we haven’t exactly been welcoming!

To be fair, I think the octopi got here before we evolved into what we are now.

I looked it up – the oldest-known relative of the octopus, dates back a whopping 330 million years

Some of them are pretty cute, but I’d just as soon they stayed in the oceans.

They seem happier there.
