Poetry Day: Shadows

Yahoo Image Search

(Fits the creepy vibe of the Halloween month.  It also comes off rather sad.)

We follow you everywhere

And rarely are acknowledged

We are by your side

Or watching your back

Or leading you in silence

Yet we are an after-thought

Us shadows have unending pain

But you do not care

How could you know

How could you even understand

This life of ours is not a life

We live in a world

That we can never touch

That is torture

You will never understand

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I see why you mentioned it is sad. Again, I’m reminded of Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol. He was full of regret. But at least he came to warn Scrooge of what could happen to him.

  2. Yes a little sad but thought provoking, too. I think I’m going to pay attention to my shadow more. Maybe buy it a drink.
