I was looking for a holiday to showcase today since I need to figure out more animals to do posts on. Kept coming back to this one. I’ve known a lot of cancer survivors and those who couldn’t beat it. I think we’ve become so used to cancer being a thing that we don’t think much about it unless it affects us directly. Humans really do have a habit of letting terrible things become normal and part of the background of our lives. Anyway, I’m not going to post jokes about this. There are so many sites for information and support that I couldn’t figure out where to even start. So, what to do?
Maybe just take a few minutes today to think about those who are fighting cancer, have defeated cancer, and lost someone to cancer. Just make sure we don’t let this category of diseases stay lurking in the shadows of our world all the time. Yeah, this is probably fairly lame and pathetic, but I don’t know what to do with this type of stuff. Just feel like bringing attention to it.

Sorry. My son is learning about cancer in science now. It’s making him nervous because of how he’s deciphering the info.

If we want to think about cancer and donate to any of the many charities, please think of children first. They can be hit by rare or nasty cancers, such as brain tumours and it seems so unfair .

Good point. Though, I’ve been reading how the deadliest cancers get the least attention. For example the top 3 deadliest are lung, colorectal, and pancreatic. Yet, breast gets more money and people are more concerned. Seems childhood cancer gets a lot of attention too because of what you’re saying, which does make sense. I just start thinking about all the cancer victims who don’t fall into the ‘popular’ categories that get major funding.

I agree with you on Dial of Destiny. It’s sad that they created such a great relationship with Marian in the first movie, but then in every following movie they tear it apart. I also didn’t enjoy seeing Indy as a curmudgeon like that. To me this is a big pitfall of franchises, whether literary or visual. Some things should be left well enough alone.

As a cancer survivor, I think it is important to continue to remind folks that it is out there and a cure for the most serious is still not found.

Very important. It feels like the 80’s and 90’s had a big push to stop cancer. Then it faded into the background as if people got bored of it.
