The Thrill of Words

More Reading Rainbow

Words on the page
Each one a step
Into a vivid world
That absorbs the senses
To bestow knowledge
And escape
And lull one into slumber
*
It is a skill
Finely crafted from youth
Marked by stumbles
Language nuances
Half-followed rules
And dwindling interest
Carry on into adulthood
*
Books can be salvation
A respite within the storm
Letting minds wander
To learn
Or detox from day’s trials
Humans need reading
To continue on their way

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

That’s great, Charles! A great way to show the value of reading. I hope more people will realize how many precious hours can be spent reading.

  2. I love the whole poem but that last line is the best. Good one, Charles.
