Since we’re going to see ‘Frozen’ on Broadway, I’ve been thinking about songs that I end up singing to if I hear them. I can stop myself if I’m aware of it, but being caught unawares means I’m going to get nailed. Here are a few and feel free to share your own in the comments:
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
I have so many songs that I sing along to when they come on, it’s hard to list them all, let alone think of them off the top of my head. I will say that the list would be an eclectic mix of rock, country, oldies, and big band era songs, and would probably have some J-pop & J-rock songs from animes included. Bohemian Rhapsody is definitely on the list, though.
Queen is a common culprit. I still remember a week when I kept singing the chorus to ‘Flash’. ‘Princes of the Universe’ is another great theme that they made.
True. Then again, there are times when you really shouldn’t. At your son’s first chorus concert might not be a good moment to join them in Bohemian Rhapsody. 🙂

I forgot about J-Pop. Although I have no luck singing to those.

Excellent post, Charles. I sing along to almost everything I know. Your songs are terrific. I especially like Queen

My GRL and His Revenge. Then I discovered iHeart Radio and wrote the rest to my favorite music.

Awesome. Think I used that once.

I’m now on Spotify. iHeart wanted me to pay.

I tend to listen mostly to playlists I made. This means I wind up singing along with most of them. Baby Shark isn’t on one of my lists, by the way.

I keep hearing about this ‘Baby Shark’ song. I think I’ve heard it a few times, but it never stuck.

This is a great selection! I’ve got too many must-sing songs to count, but four of your five are on my list.

Thanks. It was hard to narrow down the list.

Some real ear worms there! Any song by Queen or any song from Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road double album gets me singing.

Thanks. Was tempted to put Crocodile Rock there.

You’ve hit all mine! I also notice I sing along with ones that have a big, passionate rise like Evanescence’s original songs or even show tunes.

I used to sing a bit to a few Evanescence songs, but they were the ex-wife’s favorite band. Feels weird listening to them now.

That sucks. I just liked yelling along. 🙂 There is definitely a lot more music out there. I mean, who doesn’t try to match Steven Tyler in “Dream On?”
