Leave Your Questions for Chastity Sullivan the Sultry Business Vampire

Here we are with the first of the ‘Leave a Question’ posts that will be running for the next 4 Thursdays.  This is right on the eve of War of Nytefall: Lost, but the rising star of that book will have to wait until next week.  This time we have a character who I didn’t expect to tie for the top spot.  Chastity Sullivan is one of my favorites to write, but she tends to be under the radar when compared to her friends and enemies.  So, what can I tell you about this lovely lady?

Chastity is the hostess and owner of the Scrumptious Siren, which is a combination bakery (worked by goblins), tavern, inn, and brothel.  She is a curvaceous and lustful creature, who enjoys using her powers and flirting with those who catch her eyes.  Her most infamous pieces of clothing is a dress that has magical hand prints.  Whoever can match the prints gets to go into Chastity’s private quarters for the night.  She has no shame and does not try to hide that she has a high libido, but she doesn’t let it rule every action.  It can also help her gather information for her friends, which makes the Scrumptious Siren an important location for the Dawn Fangs.

There isn’t much revealed about Chastity’s past, but she has noted a few big events.  Her loyalty to Clyde stems from him killing her maker and freeing her from an eternity of being a slave.  She has built her business up from nothing and uses her powers to make sure that vampires and mortals are both welcome.  Yet, the mortals never know that they are drinking and eating with those who may try to eat them.  There are rules that no hunting is allowed on Chastity’s property and she enforces it either by her own hand or the vampirized hummingbirds that live within the birch forest around her home.  This shows that she is very security-minded and focused on the future as well.

Relationship-wise, she has a close bond with Luther Grathan that is bordering on romantic.  He is the only one that she lets her guard down with and doesn’t shamelessly flirt like she does with others.  There is a mutual respect since they both work in the trade of information.  The rest of Clyde’s group are good friends with Chastity, but she does have a rocky friendship with Mab.  Before the Great Cataclysm, Mab was with Clyde, but they broke up after Chastity was caught in bed with him.  This stems from some confusion where Chastity thought Mab wanted her to pretend to be her using an illusion and seduce him on her behalf.  It led to a grudge that lasted until they became Dawn Fangs and needed to work together.  Still, Mab never misses a chance to insult Chastity, who tends to retaliate with her charm magic.  Is it a close friendship?  Only they know for sure.

So, there is all I can share about Chastity Sullivan.  Ask your questions below and she’ll respond in October.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Vampirized hummingbirds? Why hummingbirds? Not that there’s anything wrong with them, but it’s an unusual choice, so I’d like to know if there’s a reason behind it, and if so what that reason might be.

  2. L. Marie says:

What goals, if any, do you have for your business (like expansion)?
Where do you get your recipes?
What do you appreciate about Luther?
Who, if anyone, is your closest female friend? Why?

  3. Of all the various businesses, why a bakery along with everything else?

  4. Chastity, why did you choose hummingbirds?
