The Goals of Past, Present, & Future: Mostly Sleep

(This post is a little video heavy, but . . . eh.)

To give an update on last week’s headache:  Through many tears and rants, we got things settled in the insurance arena.  A long, hard fought battle that landed us . . . with the same insurance plan and company we started with.  Don’t ask how that happened because even we don’t know.  Especially since we were told mid-week that things didn’t look good.  Now we only need to solve the job/money issue and have life stop curb stomping us in the gonad.  I stand by my statement.

This weekend will be busy and so will the next one.  Saturday is errands and appointments because tomorrow is ‘Batman vs Superman’.  Then a lunch as a really early birthday celebration for me.  My birthday is April 9th, but that weekend has been claimed by the younger generation of the family.  No problem with that.  I get to bring my son to a bouncy castle, zipline, play place that will be a blast for him.  Rather that be what causes me to celebrate early/late than Passover, which is the Anti-Cake Holiday.

I finished writing Ritual of the Lost Lamb, which means I start a month of small projects.  My son has the last week of April off, so there’s no way I can outline Path of the Traitors and write it.  Apparently, ‘lamb’ and ‘traitors’ aren’t words according to the Google spellchecker thing I have on. Anyway, this means I’ll be focusing on a variety of smaller tasks.  Those will simply be listed on the goal list.  Given how exhausted I’ve been the last couple of weeks, it might be a good idea to take it easy.  My energy starts to die just after lunch.  Part of it might be awkward sitting positions and the weather being wackier than a Loony Tune.  It was high 60’s/low 70’s yesterday and tomorrow morning, we might get some snow.  My sinuses and energy despise this.  Might be another reason I haven’t been very social too.  Well, this paragraph got strange.

Monster Hat!

Monster Hat!

April and May are always busy months, which means I never know exactly how much I will get done.  Lots of holidays and birthdays.  My hope is to get the next Windemere book released in May.  There have been a few delays on that front, so fingers are crossed.  I’ll still be starting the hype this month and into the next.  Fun stuff revolving around barbarians, chaos elves, honor, and Windemere.  Honestly, Timoran Wrath rarely gets a spotlight, so I hope people are interested in him.  Not to mention Trinity gets a big push in the next book.  Choosing teasers for the Tuesday thing might be tough.  We’ll see how I do there.  It’s nearly impossible to pick a spot that doesn’t reveal a secret in the story or the one thing I’ve managed to keep off the blog.

That isn’t to say I don’t have anything going on this month.  After much discussion, I’ve decided to attempt something that will need some promotional help.  I’m not going to say what it is yet.  The plan was to ask for volunteers for this mystery thing yesterday, but then I remembered it was April Fool’s Day.  Instead, I’ll make a late day post in regards to this and the next book release.  Again, I won’t be saying what this is because I can’t get the wheels moving until middle of next week.  Will this secret thing work to boost the piddly sales?  No idea, but it’s worth a shot.  I feel like I have the energy and right mood to give a shot too.

Speaking of sales, I’ve got no idea what’s going on with mine.  The line graph looks decent considering I haven’t released a new Windemere book in 3 months.  On the other hand, none of the numbers move.  Well, the rankings do, but in the wrong direction.  Honestly, I just want to write and create.  Feels like it takes more effort to do that too.  I used be able to write a ton in one day.  Then it was 3 chapter sections.  Lately, it’s been 1-2 sections with me getting tired rather quickly.  I do tend to wander off while thinking about the scene, so maybe I’m only being careful this far into the series.  No idea really.

Goals for the week?

  1. Outline Path of the Traitors.
  2. Ask for volunteers for next book release and special project.
  3. Activate special project.
  4. Make a few May blog posts.
  5. Start creating characters for Chasing Bedlam.
  6. If not #5 then start working on outline for Sin’s 3rd book.
  7. Pick up pre-ordered copy of Star Wars: Force Awakens.
  8. Sleep when tired.
  9. Poke at the Windemere superhero stories like an idiot.
  10. See ‘Batman vs Superman’ tomorrow.
  11. Never give up the biking.
  12. Watch DVD’s while creating.  Current series is an anime:

Just so you don’t think this is a serious anime:

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  2. I’m a big believer in having a plan. If I strike two thirds of the things off my list it’s a productive weekend. Without a plan I tend to wobble around and get nothing done.

  3. Happy Birthday, Charles! Hoping you manage to squeeze out some “me time”. I know we need to market our books, but what I’m seeing is that writing more is the BEST marketing tool. I’m reading some now and plan to get back in the writing mode soon. Still don’t know what to do about NA…I think I’m going to give it three months and if I don’t have an agent by then self-publish. This year or two waiting game and all the querying is for the birds. I’ve sent out two dozen and heard back from two so far.

  7. I hope you have fun tomorrow, watching Batman v Superman. You’ll have to tell us what you think – I just got back from the cinema, but until you’ve seen it, my lips are sealed (or my fingers are frozen…no doesn’t quite work).
