Questions 3: From the Little One

Aidan Olaf

So I had a plan for today, but somebody woke up early.  He asked what I was doing, so I explained.  Naturally he wants to help.  So here are 3 questions from the munchkin:

  1. What were you for Halloween?
  2. How would you train your dragon?
  3. The Praying Mantis Bug!  (Not a question, but he demands I write it.)
  4. Do you like Charlie Brown?  (He’s going to the Peanuts movie again.)

Not as challenging as they usually are, but it should be fun.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

    Nice questions!
    1. What were you for Halloween?
I was Mad Hatter Mickey Mouse. No, really. I have the hat to prove it. I love your Olaf costume!

    2. How would you train your dragon?
Very carefully. I would hope the dragon would be as nice as Toothless.

    3. The Praying Mantis Bug!
    A very cool bug.

    4. Do you like Charlie Brown? (He’s going to the Peanuts movie again.)
Not as challenging as they usually are, but it should be fun.
    Yes. I love Charlie Brown.

    • He just got a Toothless from Build-A-Bear, so he’s into dragons. That and Peanuts right now. I think the Bug comes from the Goosebumps movie.

Has he seen the How to Train Your Dragon movies? Or would they be too scary? I loved those movies! I haven’t seen the Goosebumps movies. I used to read the books ages ago. Is the movie good?

      • He’s seen them. We only own the first one though. Goosebumps is the new one in the theater, which is supposed to be very good. My wife took him when his friend wanted to go. I wasn’t at the play date, so I didn’t see it. It’s weird what kids fear though. He’s scared of the villain from ‘Tangled’, but loves Godzilla.

  4. What were you for Halloween? A mean ole man who dropped toothbrushes in trick or treats bags.
How would you train your dragon? I would take its favorite food and every time it obeyed a command I would give it a little piece.
The Praying Mantis Bug! I had one in my garden once, and she ate the head off her husband. (I think they were fighting. t least it looked like fighting)
Do you like Charlie Brown? I love Charlie Brown and Snoopy

    1) I was a part-feline mad scientist.
    2) I’m not sure, but there would probably be treats involved and coos of “Who’s a good dragon?” when it does what I ask.
    3) The Praying Mantis is awesome!
    4) Yep, I like Charlie Brown. 🙂

  6. Lemme play, lemme play! lol
    1) I played the cantankerous old fuddy-duddy, stayed home with the lights off. Watching movies on my laptop.
    2) I opt for the easy-maintenance dragons. Sculptures and stuff like that. I have seen both How To Train Your Dragon movies, and really liked them!
    3) Praying Mantis? If I could train them to eat all the flies that get in the house, I’d have a whole family of them! 😀
    4) I like Charlie Brown well enough, but like Snoopy better, because he’s closer to Scooby Doo. 😀

    • 1. Does that work? Forgot to put the lights on this year and kids still showed up.

      2. I preferred the first movie, but the kid loves them both. Sculpture dragons seem easier to maintain. Less burn marks too.

      3. Interesting idea. People usually go with spiders, but praying mantis would be unique.

      4. Need to test the kid on Scooby Doo. At some point they started dealing with real monsters.

    1) What were you for Halloween? I wore a suit and pretended to be a lawyer. Wait, I do that every day, don’t I? Still counting though.

    2) How would you train your dragon? Let my wife run him into shape. She has lots of practicing making unruly things (our three children) act appropriately.

    3) The Praying Mantis Bug! Loved the Praying Mantis in Kung Fu Panda.

    4) Do you like Charlie Brown? One of my all-time favorites. Wish my children were still young enough and un-cool enough to go see the movie with their dad.

    • 1. More terrifying than a zombie. 😉

      2. I like that plan.

      3. We just showed him that movie. He didn’t make it to the end though.

      4. Dreading the day the kid is ‘too cool’ to go to the movies with us. Then again, I’ll play dirty and try to see them first.

    1. An elf. The forest kind!
    2. With lots of candy and polygons I guess.
    3. They are yuck! Recently, I was returning my munchkin home and I noticed one on his pants. I have never seen one before in my country. Needless to say I got creeped out, knocked it off and stepped on it. I felt really bad afterwards :/
    4. Yep. Im even compared to him a lot, because since I am 6 months old I cannot sleep without my Mr. Towel and I used to lug him everywhere I went.
