Trapped Within (Micro-Fiction or something)

(This came out of nowhere, but I knew I had to do it before October ended.  Maybe it’ll grow into something bigger.  All off the cuff, so we’ll see how it goes.)

I don’t know why this deal went wrong.

It started out the way it usually does. Shake hands, promises are made, and then we both go to work on our sides of the deal.  He only had to keep a low profile and act like nothing was wrong. I did all the work, but then I dropped my guard. For one bloody second, I blinked and now the world isn’t right.  Colors aren’t as bright as they were unless they’re red and then they’re practically blinding.  I can’t taste anything and the voices I hear are anything but kind.

I could keep going, but just trust me that things are wrong.  Only time the world is right is when this monster sleeps and I get some control.  Not much, but I can keep a diary going and hide its location from him.  Even his dreams are disturbing and I’m sure he wants to make them a reality.  Should have never been stupid enough to make that deal.

Men, women, children, animals, and even plants are being destroyed by this thing.  He doesn’t care as long as he leaves a body every night.  No connection between victims and different methods, which shows how sick this monster is.  The school bus was extremely disturbing and I keep hoping to forget what he did at the ice skating rink last night.  How does nobody catch this guy when he’s taking no precautions?  I see him watching those crime scenes and he never wears gloves.

Unless it has to do with me.  Was this his plan?  The deal was a trap?  But my kind don’t get tricked.  We do the tricking.  I’m confused.  When can I go back home?

Signed,

The Demon Within The Monster

P.S.-  Send an exorcist.  Please?

If I knew an exorcist, I’d send one along. This poor demon needs one.

Very nice, Charles. You would do Poe or M. Night Shyamalan proud. Okay, the second reference came out of nowhere, but I’m sure you know what I mean!
