Library Ghost from Ghostbusters
Sticking to a Halloween theme, so we’re going with ghosts today. So you know the drill and let’s have some fun.
- If you were a ghost, what is the first thing you would do? (This is for after you come to terms with your new existence.)
- Is there a specific place you would want to haunt?
- How would you handle the years of being around, but unable to interact with the world?
About Charles Yallowitz
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
If I wasn’t tied to a particular area I would go sight-seeing. Big world lots to see. Eventually I would gently haunt a popular tourist attraction so I would be assured of lots of people around. Maybe near the ocean. Finally I would have to get used to the new status quo but I’m sure with a little work I could have fun. It just takes a little attitude adjustment…

What would gentle haunting consist of?

No big scary scenes. I grew up with a ghost. She was my Grandmother. I felt her every night for years. I was never afraid but I knew she was dead.

Guess it helps when it’s family. Then you kind of know there’s no threat.

I’d probably pass through wall for a while, that’s kind of cool. I’d like to haunt Congress or a Statehouse somewhere. I’d find a way to prank the lawmakers one way or another.

Possess them and maybe they’ll get some work done? I’m guessing haunting any political building would turn me into an angry spirit.

If you were a ghost, what is the first thing you would do? (This is for after you come to terms with your new existence.) I would go to one of the agents’ house who sent a rejection and move tea cups around.
Is there a specific place you would want to haunt? I think I would love to haunt Random House
How would you handle the years of being around, but unable to interact with the world? I would spend the time trying to mentally influence those with whom I couldn’t react.

1. If they drink coffee then you can mess with their Keurig or mugs.
2. I sense a theme.
3. So you’d go for possession or at least getting some attention? Sounds like a tough job.

The last one would keep me busy for eternity.

This is what I would do:
1. If you were a ghost, what is the first thing you would do? (This is for after you come to terms with your new existence.)
I’d travel around, seeing what I could do. If I were a type of ghost like the Spectre who could still appear to be human, I would pop up in various places as myself or as a human and freak people out.
2. Is there a specific place you would want to haunt?
Probably the Loop area of Chicago. That’s where a lot of people hang out. I worked in this area for years. Sometimes muggings happen like in many big cities.
3. How would you handle the years of being around, but unable to interact with the world?
I would do what the Spectre did—fight against evil. But I probably wouldn’t be quite as creatively vengeful. But with power like that, I would certainly serve out some justice on criminals.

1. The Spectre is a weird one. Isn’t he the embodiment of death? Sounds like a lot of work there. I’d go more for a Beetlejuice.
2. You’d be a superhero ghost. Fun. 🙂
3. Interesting. You’d definitely need to be able to interact with the world to do that. Have to figure out a few tricks there like possession or telekinesis.

And I had planned to mention that aspect. I was thinking also of Deadman who can take over the bodies of others.

DC seems to have a lot of ghosts. All Marvel has is Ghost Rider.

In life, I feel like I never have time to myself, so if I was a ghost, I would probably find some sort of isolated wild place where I could just watch the changing seasons. If I felt like it, I might wander back to see how my kids are doing.

Relaxing sounds like a great way to spend time as a ghost. Especially when you feel like you never have time in life. Don’t have to worry about travel fees either. 🙂
