Remember how I said Raven’s Hold will be every Tuesday and Thursday until it’s all on the blog? I lied! Mwahaha! Not really. I merely saw a few things and decided to make it go live every night at 11:55 PM until complete. I tried midnight, but WordPress wouldn’t let me put 24:00 under the time. Besides, best not to tempt fate here.
Before I explain the reason for the change, I want to mention my ‘history’ with this book beyond me being the author. I wrote this in late April and into early May. Finishing on May 12th to be specific. Now this was my first attempt at a paranormal story or even a thriller went for psychology more than gore. So I went in not having a clear idea of what I was getting into. I did some research and asked people who were into this genre what they looked for in a story. Took some notes, made basic characters, and a simple outline then off I went to see what came out of my head. It ended up being a story that scares me to the point where I haven’t touched it since the first draft.
You see, I’m not an optimistic or naturally happy person. I tend to be a little dour and can easily be pushed to the pessimistic side of things. This story ended up pushing me to a point of misery where I became exhausted trying to fake a good mood. I’d wake up knowing I had to keep writing, but dreading the whole thing. Took me hours to write even 3 pages and I took a lot of breaks to just stare at the ceiling. No idea why this happened or what I put into Raven’s Hold to cause this. All I know is that I’ve not wanted to revisit the thing. Yet I still want to share. Just don’t feel right publishing this, which is what brings us to this monthly event.
Now the timing change from Tuesday/Thursday to every night is because I stumbled onto something while setting up the posts. Just a little oddness after going through what felt like an emotional torture session to get the story done. Mostly it was that after all the changes and alterations, it stopped at 13 Chapters. So I counted up the sections and came to 29. Was hoping for 31, but you can’t win them all. Though 13 chapters, stopped on May the 12th, and had 29 sections could be a pattern. If you’re crazy and the jury is still out on me. Anyway, I also saw that this would take awhile doing it twice a week, so I’m doing it all in October. It’ll be kind of isolated from the happier, more upbeat stuff on the blog that takes place in the morning. Like Legends of Windemere will have a Jekyll & Hyde month (Jerky & Hyde if auto-correct had a say in it).
By the way, most of the sections will be long. I tried to find ways to cut them into smaller pieces, but then it was losing some of its atmosphere. One thing I did learn about thrillers and paranormal stories is that atmosphere is very important.
I’m going to be ending with a post asking what people thought of the overall thing. This is an experiment that I’m unsure of, so I’m curious. Now, I’m going to leave a video at the bottom that will hopefully act as a palate cleanser if things are darker than I remember:

I picked Thursday’s so as not to interfere with your monster plans. I thought you mentioned monsters on Friday. Maybe it was Cassidy & Loyd. I love a good paranormal tale and can’t wait to read it.

Yup. The Monster Maker thing is on Fridays.

Guess I really didn’t want to draw this out for so long that people forgot the beginning when they got to the end.

Stories that come in chunks take that risk. I don’t know what the right answer is. We try, then we adjust.

Yup. Eh, it’s just an experiment.

Yikes! With an intro like that, I’m already getting goosebumps!

Hope they stay. Hard for a heavy action writer like me to do a story like this.
