Party’s Almost Over for a While: Goals from the Days Inn

First, I think some people have taken my exile as a sign that I’d be cut off or ignoring social media.  That really isn’t the case.  This is a working trip, so I’m still here.  Feeling like I’m in a ghost town, but I’m here.  Although, some people I haven’t talked to in months have cropped up to say hi.  Odd timing.

The room is small and quaint, but I’m kind of glad I cut the time in half.  The DVD player and cable give me background noise, but there’s no windows to anything other than the hallway.  The room is kind of in the back and under stairs, so I always need a light on.  By the way, did they stop putting ‘Do Not Disturb’ signs in rooms?  Because I don’t have one and there’s a language barrier that means I have to stand around while the maid cleans things up.  Almost mistook the box of Redd’s Apple Ale for garbage too, which would have been awkward.  Then again, I really should drink something other than that. (And I get interrupted by housekeeping while writing this and they will be back later.)

I’ll be finishing the editing project today.  Even with a full day to work on it, I’m still feeling out of sorts.  Kind of like I can’t get the mojo to focus because of the new landscape.  Just 10 pages to go and I finished the formatting of a special project last night, which took over an hour.  I hate compatibility mode!  We’ll see if this special project comes out before The Merchant of Nevra Coil.  I hate to say that one is on hold for a while, but it is until that last piece comes in.  There’s no ETA on it either, so again I apologize for the delay.  Makes me wonder if I should always have a special project ready to go in case of emergencies, but the cover art would be difficult to do there.

Once I head home, I will become a slight rarity.  Probably just the morning and night with scraps of activity throughout the day.  The reason for this is yesterday was my son’s last day of school.  We’re doing a family out on Monday or Tuesday, but then it’s just me and him until after Labor Day.  My phone still doesn’t like the WordPress App, so blogging will be limited while I’m out of the house.  Writing anything new will be a no-no, which means the next Legends of Windemere book and Crossing Bedlam are going to have to wait.  Maybe the break will do me some good.  Then again, I might have to find someone to watch him if I get that last piece.

What am I going to do here once I finish that editing?  Prep September posts?  Maybe do notebook work?  By the way, anybody have a character that they want to see in the next Teaser Tuesday?  My brain is getting close to mush already.

What’s the week plan?

  1. Finish editing Book 11.
  2. TWUBS CHAT TOMORROW FROM 7-11 PM EST!
  3. Fatherhood for a few weeks.
  4. Catch the Joker in Lego Batman 2 and try to convince the kid that there are other villains for us to catch.  Also that him holding all of the controllers means we can’t play the game.  And that the Wii-mote doesn’t work on his trains.  Also that controllers can break . . . He has his own definition of how to play a video game.
  5. Notebook work when time is free.
  6. Prepare some September posts.
  7. Waiting for that last piece.  (Yes, I’m obsessed!)
  8. Get pizza for lunch/dinner and avoid the later afternoon traffic of the area.  That wasn’t fun yesterday.
  9. Family outing that’ll be a secret from the little guy.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
