So . . . this happened for Ichabod Brooks & the City of Beasts:
- Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #85,266 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
- #55 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Action & Adventure > Short Stories
- #64 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Action & Adventure > Short Stories
- #100 in Kindle Store > Kindle Short Reads > 45 minutes (22-32 pages) > Science Fiction & Fantasy
Keep in mind that Amazon only shows the best 3 rankings, so I could be on other lists. I guess I should look, but I thought today would be resting until returning to Book 11 tonight. To be fair, I thought I’d get back to Book 11 this afternoon. Then I put the kid’s bed together. Also this:
Me on Bike– Just going to relax and do some promotions. All the side projects are out of my mind.
Brain– You know what would be fun? A group of criminals helping a woman get across the country after the government collapses.
Me– But I haven’t even seen Fury Road yet! What are you doing?
Brain– I have a great idea for an insane serial killer that would fit with this.
Me– Stop it. I’ll get the booze and make you pay.
Brain– An alcoholic wouldn’t work well. Definitely need a thief. What about this plot twist?
Me– When am I supposed to write this?
Brain– Book 11 will be done by the end of June. Edit ‘The Mercenary Prince’ and then dive into this one. We can work the chapters by adventure.
Me– But I want to sleep.
Brain– You talk as if I leave you alone while you’re unconscious. So adorable. By the way, coordination issue coming.
Me– What? *slip on pedals and whacks ankle* Damn it!
So there you have it. I’m taking this afternoon to jot down the newest idea to pop into my head because apparently I can’t focus on one thing at a time. Ichabod goes live and this thing turns up. Not sure how big a story it will be and I won’t talk much about it on my blog. At least not for a while. Fingers crossed that everything falls into place.
UPDATE!
- Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #33,212 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
- #19 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Action & Adventure > Short Stories
- #21 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Action & Adventure > Short Stories
- #52 in Kindle Store > Kindle Short Reads > 45 minutes (22-32 pages) > Science Fiction & Fantasy

Sounds like a fun new project. Mine are all little piles of digital index cards right now. I also bought Brooks, read it, and reviewed it today. We all need some early support. I really like the character and hope he becomes an annual event.

Thanks for the read and review. I’m going to fiddle with this idea and see how it goes. Have the ‘heroes’ set up and I might avoid doing strict villains. Just obstacles.

Your rankings look good especially since you just published it. Congrats! It is so easy to get distracted and pulled away from writing. It happens to me too. My brain wants to write and my body wants to finish housework and the like.

I know. I guess the categories aren’t that competitive. Fingers crossed that it gets better. 🙂

I might actually get to a #1 spot at this rate. Be a first for me. 🙂

Same here. That’s why I’m hoping to ease into this one. Just jot down what I have and go back to it during lunch. Shouldn’t leave the big project alone for long.

I can’t say I fully understand the rankings. But they look pretty good.

I don’t get them either. All I know is that a 368 page book is at the top of Action/Adventure Short Stories. So I’m clueless.

Looks like a nice start. This is pre-order, or it’s live already?

It’s live. I was too late to consider Pre-Order.

Congratulations seem to be in order!
Hope those numbers continue to be high: #1 would be really nice, but #52 ain’t bad. For that matter, #33,212 is a heck of a lot better than most, isn’t it?
“YAY, Charles!”

Thanks. I’d like to get #1, but George R.R. Martin’s next book (due out in October) is sitting there. I never manage to get by him.

Nice looking stats. You amaze me with that brain. I think you better knock wood he is on your side. Could be the other way.

I’m still threatening him with the vodka. He could have kept this idea to himself for a few more weeks. 😛

True. I made it this far on barely any sleep. Thanks

Gotta love your brain – and I love those stats! 🙂

Definitely surprising stats. As for the brain, we’re going to need to have words at some point. Trying to see if the idea can last until the weekend. So far, it’s holding stable.
