On the Eve of ‘Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue’ Hype Week

I just realized that my next book, LEGENDS OF WINDEMERE: SLEEPER OF THE WILDWOOD FUGUE, is getting its full week of hype/related posts this week.  My HOPE is that I have the book go live on Friday, but it might be smarter to do it Sunday or Monday depending on when the final pieces fall together. As usual, I won’t do an exact date because things beyond my control always happen.  So please enjoy the ‘Hype’, spread the word on things that you can, and let’s see if we can build some suspense for this book that will leave every character changed.  Not all for the better.

I did finish writing Book 10 of the series this week, but I haven’t tackled the next outline yet. So many side projects got in the way.  Realized one series doesn’t have a series title and I’m not sure where to go with it.  I’m planning on writing the first draft of ‘Ichabod Brooks & the City of Beasts’ in a week or two.  Next week has a big day for my son and his school evaluations.  Secretly upgrading him to a full-sized bed too, so that’s a lot of work and moving of furniture.  Passover is next weekend, so cleaning and preparing for the guests.  Needless to say, my head is spinning.

I think all the stress has made me quieter on WordPress.  I return after running errands or finishing a leg of a project only to find 50+ emails waiting for me.  I try to read through and do a ‘like’, but I’m finding it’s getting hard to write comments off the cuff.  Exhaustion is probably an issue here since I haven’t been sleeping well.  Just restless and I’ll take unexpected naps that make it worse.  Perhaps this is the usual pre-release jitters that I always get while I can’t do anything beyond waiting. I’d love to prepare some advertising stuff for May, but most things require an Amazon site.  I have all the blurbs (Amazon, Goodkindles, AskDavid.com) written and I’ll review them on the day I send them.  So this holding pattern is rather nerve-wracking even at Book 7.  I think the gradual decline of book sales isn’t helping.

After getting a few more private responses, I plan on posting the intro for ‘Ichabod Brooks’ and getting some public ones.  That is still going to be a summer release even if I write it in April.  I want to go over it a few times.  I’m excited to start the new project and already have a list of stories for him . . . somewhere.  I also was thinking of eventually making a female counterpart to have her own adventures.  Haven’t designed her yet.  Or maybe I have because I’m not sure how to do it without making her nothing more than a female version.  She’d have to be something other than an ‘odd job adventurer’.  I have a few ideas though and I’ll reveal them when the time comes.

So, what goals do I have this week?

  1. Prepare Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue for release and, hopefully, release it at end of the week.
  2. Outline Book 11 in preparation of a mid-April tackling of that book.
  3. Continue reading The Quest for the Holy Something or Other by Kylie Betzner.
  4. Figure out a series title for one thing and possibly work on more general ideas if I finish #2.
  5. Try to calm down before I hurt myself.  (Most difficult task.)
  6. Spend Wednesday rearranging son’s room and putting full sized bed together.
  7. Son’s school stuff.
  8. Help clean house for Passover.
  9. Try to forget that matzoh gets boring very fast.
  10. Biking as usual.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Congratulations on the progress! I’ve been intensively playing grandmother this week with the granddaughter on spring break. I don’t think I’ve posted anything much beyond daffodils in two weeks!

    • You got it. The cover reveal volunteer list is just waiting for the art. 🙂 I’m enjoying the book a lot. Though I just finished a part that makes me dislike referees. 😉

Yay! Cover reveals, to me, are some of the most fun. That’s when you realize, holy crud there’s a book on the way!

LOL, I know where you are at. It’s one of my sister’s favorite parts. “What line?” Scratch. “That one.”

      • That’s the one. If my son wasn’t watching TV next to me then I might have actually cursed. Not sure what to think that one of my favorite characters so far is Percival. I think it’s partially residual from the ‘Merlin’ TV show.

I’ve found that cover reveals seem to work better than blog tours. At least for me since I release books every 3-4 months. The long series doesn’t help matters.

Lol. Percival is one of my favorites too. Just wait til you see what he does in part 2. lol.

        I miss the TV show:(

Can’t wait for the cover reveal!

      • Really looking forward to part 2. The weekend was not reading friendly. I think the show did end on a good note. Honestly, I didn’t see any other way it could end.

I’ve been watching a Starz series called ‘Black Sails’ and the actor who played Percival is on there. It’s like a prequel to ‘Treasure Island’ and he’s Billy Bones. Very cool.

Hey Charles, in all my rush, I think I missed the Cover reveal helpers application, so if it’s not too late, can you count me in? If I need to fill out your form, could you direct me to it?
Looking forward to your release and seeing what you are up to 🙂

Good luck with your goals. I’m behind on getting back to other’s blog posts (obviously).
I agree about the matzah. It does get very boring. I usually plan to eat pasta and lots of bread after Passover! 🙂
