Sure. I’ve got my book debut coming up, but I can make a post about the contest next week or Sunday. Do you have a post that I can copy or reblog?
I can sponsor with a copy of the Vol 1-3 of my fantasy series.

That would be amazing. Right now I’m getting the authors to sponsor the idea. The official post will be posted in a few days.

I’ve been a volunteer before, so does that mean I am no longer a debut volunteer and cannot lend a hand? π

You’re fine. In fact, I think you already volunteered for this. π

I most certainly did. I will always be there to lend a hand. I was just interpreting debut volunteers as first time volunteers not volunteers for helping with your debut, just for my own amusement.

Ah, I missed that translation. To be fair, I was typing it up while getting a kid ready for the bus. The original version had a few copies of the alphabet thanks to me turning my back on the little guy.

Depends on the flavor. Vanilla pear is great for the skin.

I can see that it would be. I will have to check it out. Cleopatra had asps milk, I will have vanilla pear sparkling water. We will see who has the softest skin, Cleo.

Wow. How many asps would have to be milked for that?

A lot, Charles. A lot. Even more asps than the usual asses she used. Therefore she only used it for very special occasions – oh the joy of typos.

Considering her demise, it was an interesting typo.

If she were bitten by an asp, certainly. I didn’t think that they knew exactly how she died, only that she was poisoned, be that by her own hand or by the mouth of an asp was an issue still in question.

How far did you read?
‘The oldest source is Strabo, who was alive at the time of the event, and might even have been in Alexandria. He says that there are two stories: that she applied a toxic ointment, or that she was bitten by an asp on her breast, but he said in his writings that he wasn’t sure if Cleopatra poisoned herself or was murdered.[41] Several Roman poets, writing within ten years of the event, all mention bites by two asps,[42][43][44] as does Florus, a historian, some 150 years later.[45] Velleius, sixty years after the event, also refers to an asp.[46][47] Other authors have questioned these historical accounts, stating that it is possible that Augustus had her killed.[48] In 2010, the German historian Christoph Schaefer challenged all other theories, declaring that the queen had actually been poisoned and died from drinking a mixture of poisons. After studying historical texts and consulting with toxicologists, the historian concluded that the asp could not have caused a slow and pain-free death, since the asp (Egyptian cobra) venom paralyses parts of the body, starting with the eyes, before causing death. Schaefer and his toxicologist Dietrich Mebs decided Cleopatra used a mixture of hemlock, wolfsbane and opium.’
I suspect we shall never know. The asp bite makes for a nice story though. However she died, she is dead, and bathed in asses milk, not asps π

I did read that, but I saw more people going with the asp idea. There are so many factors that could alter each theory, but there seems to be more people siding with the asp story. For example, how do we really know she died slowly and pain free? That sounds oddly romanticized. Also, I think there’s a lot of ‘man died in agony’ and ‘woman died pain free’ in many ancient stories. Kind of strange that it seemed to go that way so often.

Yup. A little frustrated too since I just spent 30 minutes battling to convert a JPEG to a PDF and NOT get a damn uneven border. Do as much prep work as I can today since tomorrow morning will be rough. I can’t schedule any tweets until the site goes live, which means I wake up and go right for Twitter.
