I always forget to grab something to drink while I’m writing. It wasn’t always this way, but I think it stems from me cutting caffeinated or sweet sodas out of my life. Not completely since I indulge maybe 1-2 times a week. Still there is rarely any Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, 7UP, or Sprite in the house.
Instead, I indulge in seltzer and I’ve hooked into Polar more than any other brand. By indulge, I mean I treat these things like water bottles. I toss one in the fridge at night, grab it about midmorning, toss another in, and chug away whenever I remember. I tend to forget because I’m caught up in my writing. Also the only place to put it while I work in my room is out of reach on the dresser. I tried to floor once and kept knocking the bottle over, which lead to explosions.
Funny thing about seltzer is that a new bottle will explode even if you haven’t shaken it up, so always open carefully.
I have a list of favorite flavors, which changes when seasonal stuff shows up. Currently, Champagne Strawberry is on the shelf. Though I’m big into the Granny Smith Apple and Vanilla Pear flavors right now. There’s an Irish Coffee and a Blackberry Bergamot that I have to try. Should be interesting, but that’s my drinking vice. I’ll be sucking them down a lot more often when it gets into winter and the room they’re stored in is cold enough to double as a fridge.
Anybody have a favorite trick that they have while writing or to celebrate a milestone? I sense a lot of love for margaritas coming. 😉

One of these days I will have to try a margarita… never got round to it yet…

They’re very tasty, but I’ve had some bad ones. It’s all about the quality of alcohol. Though I guess that goes for every drink.

I’m a lover of good red wine and decent cider… the same applies.

I have found a sweet, crisp, light and refreshing blush wine I enjoy late in the afternoons. It is a Barefoot wine. I have never enjoyed water. I start with coffee to perk up and wind down with wine. Sometimes, late in the evening I will have a margarita or a Crown and cola. Diet cokes are my daily go-to drink. I know I should drink more water, but I have never been able to get into the habit.

My grandfather didn’t like water, but he started having Poland Spring in his later years. I never got into the taste of Florida water. There was always a sulfur taste to it.

We have a good filter system and water softener, and I love Evian…but it’s expensive. Go figure I would only like French Alps water.

I love me a nice steaming cup of pumpkin spice tea – two sugar, one milk – from Timmies. Nothing beats sugary pumpkin goodness after a long, hard day’s work 🙂

I never got into the pumpkin spice tea. I had some and all it did was make me want pumpkin pie.

Fewer calories in the tea, though. And we all need to watch our slim, girlish figures, amiright?

Probably. Guess I’ll have to live with chocolate pumpkin cheesecake instead.

I’m a Diet Pepsi addict but I’ve been trying to force myself to drink more water. It isn’t that I don’t like drinking water, I just really like diet pepsi – but I know it isn’t good for me. I always carry a big 20 oz Tervis water bottle full of water from home (we have well water which is way better than the city water I have at work). Speaking of Tervis, I love my Tervis glasses – they don’t sweat no matter what and they keep my drinks cold.
Oh, and if I could have margaritas or wine, that is always my first choice 🙂

Something I did with a thermos/water bottle/canteen in Florida was mixing purified water with ice and 3-4 teabags. It was nothing more than simple iced tea, but it helped with transitioning away from soda. The challenge I had with water is that it never had a real taste to me.

I celebrate a good week with a margarita (how did you know). I also have water available all the time. I must drink a gallon a day. I use a Pur filter and keep a glass of ice water on my desk. I found selter caused me to blow up rather than the bottle.

A margarita? That’s news to me. 😉
I used to have a Pur filter when I lived in Florida. The current faucet doesn’t work with it and we have a Brita anyway. Good idea about the glass of ice water.

The PUR is like Britta. A container you fill.

Oh yeah. Forgot about that. I had the faucet attachment.

A traditional drink in Greece is sour cherry juice. It’s usually sold in concentrated form, and diluted with water. Having a bit of a sweet tooth, I go through a (concentrated) bottle a week 🙂
LikeLike
Wow. That’s a lot. Though I wonder why is it called sour cherry if it’s sweet.

I’ve often wondered about that. Then again, lemonade is sweet, too, so… 🙂

Good point. Ever have something that’s so sweet that you think it’s sour for an instant?

Lol – can’t say I have, no. Just how sweet do you like your sweets?? 😀

Not as sweet as I used to. Never really thought about the level. I used to love lemon drops and atomic fireballs when I was younger. Also this candy called Sour Warheads. That’s where I get the ‘so sweet they’re sour’ thing from.

Although a bottle of concentrate per week is really no more than a glass per day.

My seltzer consumption is getting nearly as bad as my old soda habit. Though it doesn’t have the caffeine, which is good.

For me, it’s either that (in the winter) or ice tea (in the summer), so…

I might have to stock up on tea and get the Keurig ready for the winter. Though everyone uses it, so I’m lucky to get one cup of hot tea in a day.

Had to look up Keurig. Using the same machine for both tea and coffee sounds sacrilegious! 🙂
We’re more traditionalists in this household. We place tea leaves inside a strainer and let it brew like God intended… 😀

Nah, it’s pretty common around here. It’s pretty nice if you want to get a quick cup of hot tea or coffee. Though my knowledge of such machines is limited. Most offices I worked in had either a Keurig or a vending machine type of deal.
I tried the tea leaves in a strainer method once. It didn’t go well.

It’s just cold here. Areas of the northwest got hit due to the lake effect. I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before we get hit by something.

Seltzer? Is that like carbonated water?

Pretty much. Carbonated water with flavoring.
