Goals for the Month of Madness

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IUjtHf76wM

This is going to be a busy month, especially the weekends.  4 birthdays, Mother’s Day, a yard sale, a charity walk, a car show, and a defensive driving course.  The only weekend I have free is the last one.  June is only a little better with the first weekend being taken up by a movie/lunch or dinner for Year 9.  Oh and today started with the toddler knocking down the baby gate and tumbling down the stairs.  He’s fine.

Progress this week?  I guess.  I scheduled every post for this month except for Sundays and the excerpt week, which I’ll set up tomorrow.  Last week in May will have the debut scene of Luke Callindor, Fizzle, Nyx, Sari, Timoran Wrath, and end on the 5th Champion.  I’ll be ending each one on a cliffhanger and there will be spoiler warnings.  Guess it’ll be a slow week here at that point.

As for writing, I can’t tell if I succeeded or not.  Various events and a health issue got in the way, so I had a few 1 section days instead of 2 section days all week.  Yet, the chapter I was going to end with has been altered.  First part of it has been added to the previous chapter and the rest has been condensed into the beginning of the next chapter.  I should be getting the characters to Nevra Coil by the end of the week.

Honestly, I’ve simply been sluggish and bordering burn out this past week.  I worry that I’m writing too far ahead since I’m writing book 8 and book 5 isn’t even ready to publish yet.  I can’t put it out earlier than late July/early August if everything runs smoothly.  So I have that weighing on my head along with just being . . . I don’t even know.  I guess pulled in 50 different directions and never being given a moment’s peace until I’m already at the edge.  Once I get this moment, I’m allowed to relax and then I’m hit as soon as I try to step back into things.  Almost like the pressure builds when I’m not there, so staying within the crusher is almost better than the stepping out for a bit.  Before anyone suggests it, I can’t step out and never return.  Again, I have no space to call my own, so there’s no ‘escape’ even temporarily.  Did you know library’s aren’t as quiet as they once were?  Also, as an author who gets up and moves while working, it isn’t a great location.

Goals for the week:

  1. Write
  2. Promote books

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. I understand staying with the crusher. It is like walking away from a problem only to have it get worse. Hang in there.

  2. I thought this was going to involve basketball until I realized it was May, not March. Two simple goals should help you stay focused. 🙂

It’s got to be tough being so far ahead of your publishing schedule. I don’t know how you do it.

I’m seriously impressed you’re as far ahead as you are and I do sympathise with that desperate desire to get at your writing, and then if you’re like me, you do little bits, which just make it harder.

    Good luck.

You forgot “sleep” in your list of goals, Charles! And food!
Don’t be too hard on yourself and good luck with your plans!
