Goals and Updates: What the Hell, Universe?

Good news is that Legends of Windemere: Family of the Tri-Rune is edited and ready to go once the cover art arrives.  I’m going to be making a post later with a link to a Google Document to sign up for the Cover Reveal and the April Blog Tour.  The hype for this book won’t be a week as before, but 2-3 days.  Cover Reveal, a day of posting the first section throughout the day, and then a Twubs chat where you can ask me any questions you want over Twitter.  Simple, short, and it will get right to the publishing part quickly.

Now that we got the good news out of the way, I can say that my week was magically disastrous.  Seriously, it’s like there’s a contest between the months to see who can be the biggest bastard.  Beginning of a Hero had a free period last weekend and hasn’t bounced back at all.  The free period wasn’t even that successful compared to other numbers I hear from people.  Even worse, a review vanished overnight, but I think it’s a 2-star, which confuses me.  I didn’t know Amazon deleted those.  Either way, I can’t figure out how to boost the book again.

Snowstorm starts tonight and goes into tomorrow night.  Slept terribly.  A medical issue that I can’t go into here.  All I can say is that I’m not the one with the sudden issue and it’s going to throw things out of whack for a bit.  Battle of the stuffed fish kind of happened to.  The toddler came home with a new toy that we thought he took from a kid on the bus.  He was showing off to the kids on the bus, but it came from a teacher who already gave him a stuffed penguin.  So it was a lesson in borrowing and returning that seemed to go smoother at school than home.  He still isn’t happy that he had to give ‘Marlin’ (dad from Finding Nemo) back.

Goals for the Week:

  1. Shovel snow and curse Disney for keeping their promotion for Frozen going for so long.
  2. Write more of Legends of Windemere: Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue.  I got 3 chapters done, so I hope to keep that pace going.  Probably only get 1 or 2 chapters done with what’s going on. Still paying for that January break.
  3. Build up the level of biking.  Storm and snow days might kill that off again.  You’d think an indoor activity wouldn’t suffer from weather, but it really causes trouble.
  4. If Cover Art comes in, kick off the hype.  I’d love to make a release next weekend, but it might not be possible.  A late month release might happen, which will drive me nuts because I’m excited about this book.
  5. Outline another of the Elysium books if time permits.
  6. Eat, drink, drink, drink, drink, shower, and possibly sleep.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. We got a lot less snow than originally forecasted. I hope that happens for you. I just read a Facebook status from someone in my town who foolishly said “Another beautiful snowy day! This has been a winter to remember. This has been the one I have been longing for.” I may have to unfriend someone that talks such trash and nonsense 😉

I’m anxious for your next book to come out too. I’m looking forward to it!

    • It’s already dropped from 1.5 feet to 3-6 inches, but the timing is going to be sucky. That medical issue in the family has us worried and a storm might block us off from doing much.

I’d deliver some of your snow to their house. 🙂 I have a few friends who were positive about the snow, but it was to spend more time with their kids. Can’t really fault them for that.

You catch the cover sketch in the 2 day interview posted by L. Marie? I know you were away, so I’m not sure if you saw it.

  2. The bike is important. I have been sidetracked by wind and the fact the city grooms the beach which leaves the sand too soft to ride. I’m only getting one day a week which is not enough. Hope this week is better.

So sorry about Marlin. Little guy just knows it’s gone.

My book had died since the 99 cent promo. No sales since 28th and it is RAPIDLY moving up the rankings nearly 1000,000 already. Don’t know where it will land or how to move it at $3.99. Twitter helped keep the momentum going after promo days, but that seems something I have to stay on top up and I don’t think it is going to work so well at new price. Off to the beach :)…

    • Yeah. We didn’t want him to get the idea that he gets whatever he wants. Better to teach him how to share and return things. He’ll be over it by tonight.

I finally got 1 sale on Beginning of a Hero. I’m wondering if books that price drop take a hit because people wait for it to happen again. I’m probably going to spend part of today looking for another marketing site or something with guest blogs or interviews. I remember there being so much out there last year.

Sorry to hear that the free promo didn’t work out as well as you had planned, it seems to be a rough time for everyone right now. I am sure that the rubbish weather is not helping – but I love the fact that you have your goals all mapped out. Better than me! Hope you have a better week this week. 🙂
