Ending on a High Note

I started the day with a 2-star review that was fun to read.  Whatever.  I’m over those at this point.

My day continued with Amazon blocking eBook sales (all I have) from being counted on the Top 100 Book lists.  This makes sense if this is what is really happening.  I’m waiting on an e-mail.  It’s bittersweet here because I do understand why eBooks shouldn’t count toward the ‘book’ sales since differences are being made.  Sadly, this will only harm the indie author and the traditionally published won’t bat an eye.  George Martin is still lording over the fantasy lists both eBook and regular Book.  It would be nice if this makes it easier to move up the ranks, but realistically this only cuts us off from another source of exposure.  Whatever.  I can’t control Amazon and I’m still on the other lists.  Just a shock.

I’m ending this day with Legends of Windemere: Prodigy of Rainbow Tower surpassing 1,000 eBook sales.  Legends of Windemere: Beginning of a Hero is nearing 4,000 overall.  Bestiary even sold a few this month.  It’s been a good time and I hope the positive energy carries me through the week.

Now, let’s party (Adult Song: Pornstar Dancing):

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. And yet Amazon reigns as Supreme King and Commander of all things. I’m just not a fan of Amazon.

    • They made the right decisions at the beginning and pounced on it. They do a lot right and this could be beneficial in the long run. It could bring more focus on indie authors on the eBook list, which means more indie authors can get sales and contracts. I just hope that’s the reasoning.

    • Thanks, but it looks like Amazon is screwing me over again. I got dropped from the Sword & Sorcery eBook and Epic Fantasy Book lists. No idea how to even get on the Sword & Sorcery list.

What do you mean dropp? I thought you picked your categories and you were doing so well in them?

      • Sword & Sorcery isn’t a category that I can pick. I just showed up there and I don’t know how it happened. Now I vanished from it and am on Action/Adventure. Not allowed on the book lists either. It seems the new system limits with an indie author can get onto as far as those lists go.

        I still don’t understand it.

      • Amazon created subcategories for Science Fiction, Romance, and Fantasy. These are categories like Aliens, Sword & Sorcery, Psychics, etc. When an indie author puts his or her book together on their Kindle bookshelf, they are not able to connect to these categories. I can only choose from 5 instead of the 10+. Somehow, my books ended up on the Sword & Sorcery bestseller lists, which might have been an accident. I’m looking up ways for an indie author to get to those lists since Amazon is only letting traditionally published books list themselves under those categories.

        That doesn’t seem fair.

      • Not in any way, but it’s been suggested to put Sword & Sorcery as one of my tags. It will take a few days to get on the list if it works. Indie authors definitely get a bum deal when Amazon does this.

That’s what they told me to do when i had category questions, put it in the tag lines, but I am told those only work to help people find your book, but don’t do anything to/for your ratings.

    Wow! 1,000 already? That’s fantastic!

What are you going to do with all that cash, Charles?

I heard they’ve got special deals on a Ferrari 458 this weekend. Just a heads up. 🙂

    • Buy a stick of gum? I’m just hoping the moment keeps up. The first book is cooling off a bit.

I also just learned that my .99 cent book is getting $2 added onto the price for non-US buyers. Not my fault, but somebody just publicly complained on my FB page. Just what I want to wake up to.

      • They complained that my book was advertised as .99 cents, but they were charged an extra $2 when they went to buy it.

That’s really strange. I just bought Rainbow Tower just to test it.

My Aamazon invoice seems to be coming through as 0.99 cents, though I’ll have to wait a day to see what it actually shows up as on my bank statement.

Whatever the case, if what the Facebook person said is true, that’s just not right at all.
