A Friend Can

A friend can feel your tears
From many miles away
As if a coldness crossed their heart
Stealing a momentary breath

A friend can close their eyes
And focus on your pain
Praying to take some in
To help you make it through

A friend can use the stars
To send you strength and love
An energy of thinnest trace
Holding you from afar

Dedicated to all my friends who are going through rough times.  Thinking of everyone.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

That is just precious Charles. I am reading your book with all of the rough stuff and then I see this so sweet. You are a charmer.

    • Thanks. Not sure what the rough stuff of the first book was. The second book is a rough trip.

It is a fantasy with some brutal stuff in the prologue that was absolutely necessary for the story…you just come across a such a nice guy, I couldn’t imagine you having any meanness/rough stuff in your head/imagination. It was surprising. I am embarrassed to say that I was expecting Hobbits, not zombies, but I am NOT At ALL disappointed.

      • I have to use some brutality for my villains. In the most recent book, I had to write out a really nasty torture scene. Drove home the fact that a new villain is meaner, crueler, and nastier than the others. I think I did a ‘good’ job because I really want to kill this villain off. Twice if I can figure out a way to do it.

I never realized zombies were so rare in fantasy. I think they make great fodder monsters since villains can make so many variations. I have a zombie type monster in every book so far.

That’s really cool. I am excited by the read. It is quite colorful and imaginative.

Timely, for my bestest childhood friend who suffers now with stage four cancer and another friend who recenlty lost her son, George, who is another childhood friend of mine. Their suffering makes me feel helpless. Your poem shows the part we can all play in their lives and deaths.
