I’m trying to figure something out here for a project. I need to think up 10 emotions that one would go through while on a fantasy adventure. My goal is to tell a story in 10 poems while retaining a specific emotion in each poem. Here is what I have so far:
- Courage (Setting out)
- Pride (Early adventurer)
- Frustration (First obstacle/loss)
- Determination (Continuing on)
- Fear (Monster!)
- Love (Everyone needs some love)
- Anger (Loss of love?)
- Insanity/Darkness (Turning evil)
- Guilt (Return of one’s conscience)
- Hope (Victory and hero status)
That’s what I have for my part of this project. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

This is such an awesome idea! And I love the emotions you have! You’re like the men-in-black of wordpress! They should give you two black suits! 😉

Thanks. Though, I’m confused on the two black suits. I can only wear one at a time.

You would have to see men in black 3 to get that one.

I’ve seen parts of it. I know the whole thing with time travel and K.

It is a good movie. But you really need to see the whole thing! It’s the funniest of the series.

I loved the first one, but I plan on giving 3 a shot. I started watching it two months ago, but got pulled away from the tv.

You have gathered a set of perfect emotions from the starting of the quest to its climax.. 🙂

Thanks. Now, I only need to create my hero and my quest. Maybe a villain too. Those could be useful.

Curiosity. Grasping the unknown, getting to know it or define it would in my opinion be something I would manifest or look for in an adventurer. Even if the scenery is pre-set, the adventurer would still like to know why, there is always a why to ask, be it while opening a mysterious chest or after the curse, jewels or whatever out of it allready damaged you or saved you.
Intuition. When the hidden part of the soul manifests as a sign, a voice that drives us mad or makes us question.

I was playing with using curiosity instead of courage. Both of them work for a starting adventurer. I guess I’ll see what kind of hero I’m using and then decide between those.

Yeah, my best advice would be just to let the story lead you as you write it. It all loks very interesting and appealing from what you listed 😀

Thanks. I think I got the hardest part of this project because coming fantasy poetry with emotion poetry is maddening.

Don’t forget sad…I just love poems and books that can make me cry. I know, You knights in shining armor types don’t do that, but us chicks like that stuff.

Sad would probably work better than guilt. I have to stick with 10 for this.

I’ve never done that with kids. I always go for the happy face.

We thought we would take down to universal to audition but no kid parts advertised lately.

What kind of auditions do they do there?

Movies and sit coms and kid shows are filmed here now. One of my girlfriends has a contract to do hair and make up on set. Just thought it might be fun for Jalina. They have only wanted kids older than age six lately. Probably for some nickelodeon thing.

That’s really cool. Hope the kids get a shot at some point.

what about the emtion which arises when you become inspired to begin in the first place idealism, vision, inspired… the intial mobilizing, what gives you the motivation to set out on an adventure
courage comes after you reakize whaat exactly this adventure will entail

Inspiration, huh? I always thought it was courage to set out in the first place. I could use inspiration as the first one and move courage to the second. Pride is an iffy one to begin with and can be combined with frustration.

you need a reason to set out,,vision, dream
so yes pride will make you stumble, pride leads to frustration because it is not realistic, it is designed to fail
but courage and endurance, foritude is what drives a person to the finish line

I like what you have, Charles – and I like the inspiration suggestion above. What about betrayal – of the hero or the hero betraying his comrades/vision (probably included in insanity?). Sounds like an interesting project!

I was thinking of that, but I only have 10 spots. Betrayal could work into the anger one.

Definitely!

What a great idea! I can’t think of any you have missed, except perhaps Defeat(That small moment where the hero is in his darkest moment before it works out) and Despair (The feeling directly linked to the moment of defeat or loss). I think you have the workings of quite the epic tale!

I might have to fit those in with others. Though, I’m really not liking guilt.

Guilt would be tough, because you would have to make sure it got wrapped up correctly and doesn’t seem to be lingering on with your character…I think, lol. At least that would be my concern on it! 🙂

It might be replaced with sadness. Though, guilt staying on a character can be useful as a motivator.
LikeLike
Yes it can be if you are in need of a motivator, plus guilt resulting from something in the past before the beginning of the Hero’s story can be quite useful in adding depth to the hidden past of your character.
