Dream Theater the Revenge Tiger (Yahoo Image search)

It came in my dream

When I was young

A beast of solitude

The cat of coal and fire

We stared at each other

In the jungle of my soul

With a flash

 It jumps into me

Makes me understand

Its power courses through my blood

I am man

I am tiger

Burning bright

In this forest of the night

And none can compare to my

Fearful

Symmetry

When I graduated high school in 1998, I was given a graduation present by my grandparents.  That present was a summer in Israel with a teen tour.  It was for artists too, so every 2 week stop had art programs.  We told to make a final project and I chose to write 100 poems.  Over half were about the other members of the tour, so I improved my social skills here.  I’m going to put up some of these poems from my 18-year-old self.

The above poem came from a dream during a time I was obsessed with tigers.  I still love tigers, but I think I’ve become more wolf-life in my old age.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  3. Gosh I love Tigers, my favorite land animal, have them all over my walls, in my notebooks…ect…it’s really an obsession at this point. Love this poem, love the style so close to one of my all time favorites…Blake (Seriously named my blog after one of his, lol) If I ever have twin boys they will be William Blake Jones and William Shakespeare Jones…yes I am crazy like that lol. Great poem Charles, I can’t wait to share it with the hubby…tigers are his favorite too 🙂
