Part of the Monday Poetry Prompt:
All day his head goes thudding along
At night he head-bangs until he wakes
Soon it turns into a drumming song
Ignoring the fact that his skull now aches
I’m not sure if this is right, but I have a 3-year-old banging his head against the floor. It’s his soothing technique and I can’t stop him without setting off an hour-long tantrum. So, that’s all I can get to work in my head.
About Charles Yallowitz
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
Ouch. I hate watching kids do that but it seems pretty common.

It took us two years to figure out the appeal. It isn’t the sound that he likes, but the vibration. On the floor, he can get a better vibration than the couch. It’s odd.

Find something else that vibrates that he can put to his head so he doesn’t render himself unconscious is my first thought.

We’ve tried, but nothing matches the vibe he gets. I’ve already said if he knocks himself out then that’s his choice. He’s been doing this since he was a couple months old.

Do you find yourself saying, ‘knock yourself out then!’

Several times. He uses his blankie as a cushion, so he tends to be safe.
