Lesson Learned Until the Next Time

My goal for the week is to write at least 2 chapter sections of my 5th book every weekday.  This totals 12-20 pages a day.  Maybe more of I get a good click on, but that’s probably not going to happen.

You see, my errands yesterday put me back a few hours and then I bounced around my reader again.  I got the two sections done by midnight and I typically wake up at 6am to get things started around here.  So, I’m exhausted and I have been exhausted since this morning.  Napping wasn’t an option and I’m moving slow.  I still have to make the meatball subs for dinner tonight and I’m not even done with one section.  I don’t even have the energy to do my biking, but I walked around doing errands around town for an hour.

Tomorrow might have to be a catch up day, which means making the move for 3 sections instead of 2.  The true goal is to get the prologue (done) and chapters 1 and 2 done.  It’s still possible, but it’s never fun to have a delay.  It’s funny that half of the distractions have left for two weeks, but they’re the half that kept the other half in check if I asked nicely.  For example, my dad would watch Aidan in the afternoon if I still had writing to do.  Today, I think my wife took Aidan for a walk and left her cellphone behind, so I can’t contact her if need be.  So, I’m on edge.

Maybe I just need to get back into the novel-writing zone since I took 3 weeks off to work on outlines and reading.  Never got those outlines done either, so my goal-attaining batting average is in the sewer.  Maybe I shouldn’t let myself know the time-based goals any more, so I stop getting upset that I miss them.  At least I dropped a lot of television shows to focus on my writing, so I’d be in worse shape if I hadn’t done that.

Now back to Windemere . . . after I start making dinner.  That apple jelly and marinara sauce won’t mix and cook itself.  At least I get to cook again while the parents are away.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Oh gosh you are like a “jack of all trades.” Your meals always sound yummy. Hope you get your writing done tomorrow (or today)!

Mom and dad don’t let you cook? Do you catch things on fire?

    • There are too many diet restrictions. Combined my parents have diabetes, high cholesterol, and not much interest in cooking complicated meals. Add in my wife’s calorie counting and eating like a bird and I felt that cooking was an unrespected practice around here. I busted my butt to hear about how blood sugar levels were going to skyrocket (they snack too, but it’s never that) or watch my wife take a scrap of food. At least now, I only have the calorie counter to deal with.
