Morning of Ugh

My eyes peel open

As my muscles weep

Groaning and grousing

I roll to shaking feet

And collapse

Under the weight

Of a spinning world

(April Poetry contest.  Figured this would be more interesting than saying I woke up feeling like a truck ran me over in my sleep.  Probably just need some extra sleep.)

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

    • Thanks. This is probably exhaustion more than anything else. Crawling back into bed for an hour will give me the energy to get some stuff done. Or at least get my biking done.

      • Hour nap seems to have helped. Probably still going to take today to spend less time at the computer and get some reading done.

I think I was meant to find your words, my feelings exactly as I am at this moment, sitting at the edge of my bed to begin the day…great poem:)

  6. Oh, I like this a lot! Fells like summer already! (I’m not a morning person) and 5 a.m. wakeup calls are not appreciated! Great poem Charles! I’m going to print it and tape it to my bedroom door! 🙂
