Sleeping Shadow

(Poetry Prompt #8 challenge.)

I look down
To find you are not there
My constant companion
The light too week to feed
Causing you to blip
In and out of sight
You will be reborn
Once my work is done
And I step into the sun
Casting you from my soles

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Well done, and darn quick too! I wish I could hammer out a poem that fast.

    • Shadows were always a favorite subject of mine and I just happened to hit refresh on my reader and the new prompt showed up. It helped that the poetic form was optional/open. I’ve been hankering for a free verse today.
