Back in college, I needed a stapler because my old one broke within the first week. It was it’s time to go . . . down the stairs as I tried to staple a paper while running late to class. So, I went to the school store to buy a new one and found the greatest stapler ever:
I got the blue one and my standing stapler became my most prized office item. This thing also had a habit of getting pulled out of line by airport security because they could never tell what it was on the x-ray scanner. I had to start warning them about it as it went through and showing them after, which was strange considering my wife had lighters and a small knife in her bag. She never got pulled aside. I digress.
My stapler was great until it broke. How did it break? After years of asking, I finally let my wife use my stapler once. Damned if I know what she did, but the spring shot off and it would never snapped shut again. I’ve been using it like this for years, but it has become less and less reliable.
Today, my wife gave me a birthday present of a new standing stapler. It’s not as cool looking as the first one, which is retired, but will never be thrown out. Still, I now have a working stapler until I let her borrow it again.

I wonder how many times I’ve quoted this scene at work 😉

I always brought this stapler to work with me, so I got the nickname Milton. 🙂 It’s such a great movie.

I think I was with you that day you bought it. I think I bought some felt tip markers to write on CD’s that day.

It was a surprise when I first saw it too. Can’t go wrong with The Rock. Well, there’s ‘The Toothfairy’ and a few other movies, but 7 times out of 10 he’s great.
