This is a poetry prompt by We Drink Because We’re Poets. Bad weather with the words Thunder, Lightning, and Wind. Going to try a complicated Sestina:
The storm rages all night
Trees struck down with lightning
Crackling, living fire
Twisting through the wind
And mating with the thunder
That terrifies the world
A man fights the wind
Hoping to tame the fire
Left by hungry lightning
Consuming his world
Threatening its final night
As his ears ring with thunder
A lake is struck by lightning
Shimmering for all the world
As its skin is torn by wind
And waves are birthed by thunder
Its surface bright like white fire
Until it sinks into the dark of night
A screech upon the world
Drowns out the angry thunder
Highest pitch of the night
Tainted with the red of fire
Feeding off the howling wind
And worshiping father lightning
People cower at the greatest thunder
Shaking houses alongside its brother wind
The current rulers of the world
Refusing to give up the night
Even in the face of sputtering lightning
And dying fires
The starry sky shines upon the fire
Beaten back by mid of night
Cringing with the distant thunder
And the fading lightning
Receding from the world
Leaving a gentle wind

Nice. Ay, thanks a lot for trying out the prompt, Charles! 🙂 I can feel the rage of storms in this one. The tempest speaks. Epic!

Thanks. The style is a pain though. I need to make a chart to make sure each of the 6 final words gets a chance to be on every line. It’s even too complicated to explain.
