A Declaration?

An odd idea was just thrown at my ears in regards to my present tense issues.  *sees everyone getting to leave*  I locked the doors for the next minute.  *jingles keys and backs away*

Before I’m lynched, it has been suggested that I make a declaration of why I use present tense.  Not a rant or a hater bash, but a clear, concise explanation of why I write the way that I write.  I’m not really sure on this because it feels like I’d be picking a fight or setting myself up for internet sniping.

I will say the idea of a declaration does have it’s ego-boosting appeal. So, I’m torn.  Guess I’ll have to think about it some more.  Anybody think this is a good idea or a quick path to a flame war?

*tosses the key to the crowd*  See.  Told you I’d let you go.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

You can try,but you won’t convince anyone who doesn’t like it anyway.

  2. Definitely a good idea. Of course you won’t convince everyone – but at least you’re talking about it up front.

I think you should. I think it is fun to find out why creative people choose to do something the way they did. I was watching a special about The Hunger Games and the director was commenting on why they chose the shaky cam method (definitely not everyone’s cup of tea). He was explaining if they had filmed it the more traditional movie route, it would have come off as glorifying violence something the book is against and he wanted the audience to be uncomfortable with the thought of the violence in the movie. It actually made a lot of sense.

Even is the jury is still hung at the end of the day you will have justified your reasoning to yourself and won’t have to revisit the why part again.
