How To Do a Giveaway? Seriously, I’m Stumped

I see a lot of authors doing giveaways when their book is out, but I’m not really sure how to do it.  For one thing, I’m not poor, but I’m in a situation that requires watching every dollar.  For another thing, I’m not famous enough to offer my autograph as a prize.  So, what exactly can I do as a giveaway?

I had the idea of offering a Word version of the second book in Legends of Windemere during a specified time for anyone that posts a review on Amazon or their website or makes a picture of one of my book characters or cosplays any of them.  Yeah, that last one is stretching it.  I’m just not sure if this is a smart move or any real incentive.

So, what kind of giveaways do other authors do?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I have floated around the idea of doing a contest for an Amazon gift card to drive more traffic to my site. Hopefully, the visitors would take time to read about my projects and who I am as a writer. Best of luck to you!

Thanks. I have a friend who did that, but I’m not sure how the contest went. I believe she got a few sales and reviews from it. I was thinking of the same thing, but give a month for people to read and write a review. Then pick three winners (thanks, Candace Knoebel, for telling me about randomizers) to get the cards.

      Good luck to you too.
