It’s the Jewish New Year. It’s the year 5787 for the Jewish calendar. I don’t really get it either. It’s a lunisolar calendar that supposedly starts at the creation of the universe and has a leap year every 19 years. Anyway, it’s celebrated by dipping apples in honey, which is always a nice snack. There are prayers involved too. Not to mention the shofar, which is a ram’s horn that is blown. That’s fun.
