I was thinking of making a long post about this topic, but I realized that I don’t dwell on kissing scenes. Since I don’t write romance, I just have the characters kiss and move on. I don’t describe it much. Hand position and feelings are there, but that might be it. So, I’m going to ask questions of the audience. Maybe I’ll learn something:
- What do you think is important for a kissing scene?
- What is a mistake authors tend to make about kissing scenes?
- What would you consider the best kissing scene that one should take notes from?

It’s funny when they put attractive actors together in a kissing scene and they look awkward. In general, the act looks weird at times.

Yeah. Some actors have great chemistry and are believable in these scenes. One thing I have noticed: if the actors think the scene is dumb, it will look dumb, especially if they bad mouth it afterward, as I have seen some actors do with rom-coms.

I am not the guy to ask this one. There should be some smoldering chemistry, but even that is guesswork to me.

Smoldering is tough to pull off. I think.

I focus more on the emotions than the physical acts.
