It’s Super Bowl Sunday, which means . . . commercials and food. Pretty sure most people who follow my blog don’t care. Not to mention I’m a NY Giants fan, which means I haven’t cared about a Super Bowl in a long time. Only watched a few games this year while I was doing other things. Honestly, Pokemon Go took priority because at least some winning would be involved there. Still going to root for them next year as best I can, but I was never a big sports guy anyway. Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican rapper who has been a big figure in getting Latin rap into the mainstream. He also does acting, WWE wrestling, and tons of philanthropy for Puerto Rico. I knew of him because one of my students is a fan, but only a little. Looked him up when he was announced and he’s done a lot of positive things. I know I won’t understand what he’s singing, but that’s the same thing with Eddie Vedder of ‘Pearl Jam’.

In October, he responded to the complaints about nobody understanding his music that ‘You have four months to learn’. He didn’t say Americans though. That would have been weird since he’s Puerto Rican, which means he’s an American too. He’s now saying ‘You don’t have to learn Spanish to dance.’ Personally, I don’t blame him for the original statement considering how much vitriol got aimed his way right after the announcement, especially people saying that wanted an ‘American act’.

Doesn’t matter in the end. I usually don’t watch the half time shows because I don’t relate. Last one I liked was Bruno Mars.

I never understood the half time shows and this year will be no different. It really doesn’t matter what language is being sung. I won’t get it.
